You get zero arguments from me on the chocolate. German dark chocolate is the best in the world.

I'll have to hunt down the Schwarzbier. The district of the city we're in primarily serves Kolsch, but I know Schwarzbier. Yum. As for Jaegerschnitzel, I'm afraid I can't accommodate. I'm allergic to mushrooms, so that exact request is out, but I'll definitely have a schnitzel of some sort while thinking about you. How's that?

Germany is awesome - where were you at when you were over here?

Sorry I've been so quiet lately, just busy - but I've been lurking as much as possible to keep up with everyone.

Tat, can't wait to see pics of Germany.

I'm gonna try to attach the pic hubby did for you, (he used the black and white photo as his inspiration) - I'm not sure if I can make the attachment work with this file - if I mess this up, I'll try again....

Story of my week: I volunteered to play bass for a little acoustic jam that one of my co-workers and her friends/family are having once or twice a month. Upon talking to one of my bass player buddies about it he pretty much insisted that I borrow his 1959 Kay C-1 upright to play with them. Um...I've never played upright in my life so...:help: I've spent the last 2 days over on the Double Bass side of TB trying to get some pointers and stuff and basically all I've gotten is people making jokes and telling me that I'm in for a treat, they're all such sweethearts. :scowl:

auto - I play both. I've even sent Furry Monkey some upright clips. Go for it, you can do it! It is true there are some snobs over on the DB side of the board, although there are some fantastic musicians and great people as well. Feel free to PM me any questions.

So far the general concensus on the DB side is that I'm going to hurt myself trying to play for the first time. They're saying it'll probably "fudge" my wrist up and all this stuff.

eh - I doubt that. I suggest you google "left hand position upright bass" and just look at the videos and photos. The key is to keep your thumb on the back of the neck, and curl your fingers around in like a "C" or claw shape. You can't just lay your fingers across like on a bass guitar.

The right hand is more forgiving, there are better rather than worse ways to do it, but you're not going to hurt yourself experimenting and seeing what sounds good.

I've been thinking it over and I think I'm just gonna use my P bass, I wannna learn upright but I'd rather jam this time and have them be like "hey this guys pretty good" rather than "wow...he sucks on upright"

Don't be surpirsed if I PM you in the near future though ;)
