Cliff Williams leaves AC/DC

Right? Why does everybody, myself included, forget about Mark Evans?? IMHO he was on much of their best stuff. BTW - I think Cliff is great as well, so not a slag on him.
Which is why I am PERFECT for the gig.
I agree with this.
After reading some books, most pointedly "The Youngs" by Jesse Fink, it seems that it is the Youngs - everybody else is expendable, no matter how longstanding in service.
More employees than band members. Fair enough I guess, if they knew that coming in .
Mark Evans and Brian J being examples.
They have their reason I'm sure, and it was a successful model for a long time.
Me too, had a great time at the first Sydney show.
I saw them as an opening act for I believe BOC with I think Thin Lizzy in 1979. Had never heard them before. They kicked the crap out of the other bands and I bought HIghway to Hell and High Voltage and wore the groves out of those records. Our band did low budget covers of them but getting someone to sing like Bon was, well...........FF 1980 and Bon was gone but the Back in Black tour was fantastic(little guy in a monk's robe banging a bell was awesome.) Midnight Oil opened up and they were great as well(bought that record too.) One of my top shows ever, and about $10.00 to boot. Bought the next couple albums and they faided away for me. Same as Rush after Moving Pictures, but that is my taste. Just my opinion as others would disagree and that is what makes music great. Brian, I believe will be 70 next year and 35 years singing like that has to have take a toll on him. Enjoy your retirement, you earned it. You as well Cliff. I think I'll play my Australian import AC/DC albums tomorrow.
Sums up my track record with AC/DC and Rush as well. I was out after Back in Black and Moving pictures. I bet you graduated high school sometime between 1980 and 1984, if I had to guess.
WOW - seems Cliff spent time playing a Rick in his pre AC/DC days. Wonder if this was a prog like gig? Dig the threads:
You are good(1980.) Double necks and Taurus pedals created so much sound from three guys(saw 2112, Hemispheres & Permanent Waves.) I still think Bon HAD to have written some lyrics on Back in Black. Can you imagine his voice on some of those tracks? IMHO Bon era records(especially HIghway) are classics.
I guess I should qualify that guess - I was 1983, so it was easy to pick up on the signs.
I do wish I had picked up on both Rush and AC/DC earlier. Didn't find Rush until Permanent Waves, saw the Moving Pictures tour. And had never heard of AC/DC until Back in Black actually, THEN went backwards into their earlier stuff. Never saw them though, as ultimately I just didn't dig Brian nearly as much. No question BnB is an absolute classic, but.....Bon.......In Rochester NY from about 1977 until 82, 83 I saw at least 25 shows($10.00 or there about) from VH, Genesis, Rush, ZZ Top just to name a few(that I remember ;-) without the drama of today. Bic lighters by the thousands and a sweet smell in the air. No fights, yelling and the likes. Just pizza, beer and hot dogs. I miss that. Glad I was there.

There are some elements of what we know, but some other stuff here is simply jarring. The outfits (except Angus), WHT?
And something about the overall production, seems kinda like Sweet or something. Particularly when it comes to the chorus. Bon, and the classic AC/DC backups were always sly and somewhat menacing. This.....is not.
Just wow.
And I always associated the lyrical content of this with Bon and his whole vibe. Never would have imagined it preceded him. Of course, it takes on a very different feel with Bon. I'd never let Bon of the rest of the band near my daughter, but "these guy" would not be cause for concern. I think that sums up the difference. LOL.
You know - if this is recent, he sounds pretty good. Better than back in the 70's - I didn't dig that.
I'd actually respect the whole Brian replacement thing if they HAD brought this guy back. I know it's silly, but still.

The band doesn't acknowledge this era, maybe because there was a rotating cast of members aside from the Young brothers in the early days. I just checked Mark Evans's very interesting book Dirty Deeds, and I don't think the two even met.
Must be fairly recent as he has a few "road miles" on him as well and his voice has some maturity to it. The other video I think only has the Young brothers in it as that isn't Phil Rudd or Mark Evans, I believe. I guess the Youngs were the band. But who else can play the bagpipes and sing about his big balls? Guess I remember more about them than I remember(+_+).
I think this would be a great thing for him.
Find a straight up blues band with a great singer and do something new as their guitarist.
The guy has great blues chops, I heard him on one of those things where there are 25 people on stage at a hall of fame induction or something, and he killed.
Same deal with ZZ Top, Billie Gibbons should go find a great blues band with a great singer and be their guitarist.
We have all heard ZZ Top and AC/DC rehash their own past great material enough, something new and different would be great from both of them.
And neither of them need the money.
I finally saw them in 2009 at the old Giants Stadium, with the new MetLife stadium going up next door. I don't think too many people in my section were familiar with this song:
I had a blast too! By the way, from half a mile away where I was sitting, they sounded a lot better than this video.
