No LM4 for me there..they were great though. Mine was the RA4.
BTW , your new LG is really interesting with the maple board/60s pup placement....have to let me know how it turns out. Very cool to "pre build" a bass before its carved and painted...

I truly believe a brass Hipshot B gets you 90% the way there to a BAV's functionality, looks way better, is much easier to string, and offers more action adjustment range. IMHO.
the hipshot doesnt look anywhere near as awesome though.ymmv
I've always wanted a bass with a BA bridge... It just looks "hot-rodded" that way. When I mentioned to Jimmy I wanted to try it for looks I got called a name I don't care to repeat here, LOL.
A nice thought is also to save the BAV for my LM5.
We'll see what I come up with tomorrow.

All the A-C LM's I've seen, owned and played have that slight 'shift to the right' when looking for the bass. Never knew why that was (minor issue, but consistent). I didn't realize that was a 70's Fender thing, so now it makes sense. The strings line up exactly over the pickup poles, but there is just a slight increase in the distance between the B string and the edge of the board versus the G string and the edge of the board. Cool.... never really understood what that was about until now.

slight shift to the right is one thing, but some of these are looking like theyll have the stingray 5- g string falling off the edge of the fingerboard issue.
its not really a 70's thing as much as a slop thing. my own late 70's jazz doesnt look anything like that antiqua one i posted. theyre pretty much centered on the neck.
Man I know what you are talking about. I had a Stingray 5 that if you tried bending the g-string it came off the board. Hated it. Not acceptable IMO. No more Stingray 5s for me after that.
There's plenty of room between the G and the end of the board also of all the ones I've played and owned... lot's of wood on either side, just a touch more on the B string side. It feels pretty good to me.
+1 I HATE basses with the G string too close to the end of the board... the MTD's I've played and owned had a bit of that, where I actually could pull the G off the board if I was really digging in.

ive seen the pictures of yours and i agree. theyre centered fine. these though.....not so much.
im not buying it being a parallax issue due to photography as ive talked to a few people who were there and noticed this stuff first hand.

Nope.. i played many Music Mans, even own a few, and i even played the new Stingray 5 at namm.. and those have that string falling off the edge of the finger board just as all the 5s they have made in the past 12 years.
..
now many folks on TB but especially on the Musicman Forum will tell you that the string falling off the board is your poor "technique". change your "technique"

I can tell you that those ACs do NOT have the finger board off the edge syndrome.. that is something that i notice..
If you played it and felt it thats one thing, but you are making judgment from a poor photo. One at a bad angle and one that has his finger noticeably pulling the string off the neck..
I can see someone being so consistently picky if you are going to buy one.. but i dont think that you will.. just saying.

your right im not going to buy one. i seriously considered it at one point. until some stuff i noticed that seemed a little off on that high dollar of an instrument. i really admire his goal of what he's doing. the execution is another thing.

you obviously werent posting in the fodera threads. lol. after paying mid 5k for a fodera i custom ordered and got a bass with cosmetic flaws and wrong specs, im a little touchy about that stuff.

Yes i have noticed the picky-ness in other threads that you post in.. no biggie.
Also, Fodera is known for that. "small flaws".. But, they make incredible basses .. And guys that smoke both you and me play them for a reason..
The thing that i like about them is that they do not use a cookie cutter "parts vendor" for their basses as other top dollar bass makers do.
They , just like Alleva Coppolo, make the parts of the SUM in house.

The bottom line is ,Does it sound good? Thats the bottom line. I'm not going to put a bass , even a very $$ early 60s P that's in very good condition in a case over my fireplace to worship.. Im going to play it. Dont care what it looks like.

im consistently picky about all bass stuff
if the bottom line is sounds good, than theres no real need to spend 4-5k on a bass. my fernandes 5 with aeros sounds just as good if not better than my f bass. the playability and fit and finish though made it worth the extra money.
sounds good can be achieved in much lesser of a bass.

I agree.. you dont have to spend $$ for a bass that sounds good... My early 60s P and Jazzes cost maybe $175 when new.... and they sound great! Why not sell you f bass then..
