That must have been fun... just to see that bass much less play it. Cool! Interesting on the weight perception.

Marcus and I went to the same chiropractor in LA. It was about 94. Saw him a lot for about 3 months and we had a common ground of dealing with pain. Very cool guy,,down to earth,Still remembers my name. Talks about my wolf hi-bred dog that I had at that time if I see him.

Anyway one day he had the bass with him and I had to check it out.
It was intimidating, duh,, I certainly wasn't gonna play run for cover. I think I played some reggae lines or meters probably some James Brown lines.

Always great to hear about an artist who plays at such a high level who is also a nice person. Very cool. I hope your back (and his) are OK.

Great story. It's nice to hear that he's such a cool guy.

Man I don't know what I would play if I was checking out that bass in front of him. I would have the urge to play run for cover or never too much but there's no way I could play any slap line in front of Marcus.

I'd totally slap in front of Marcus, with the hope that he'd laugh at my crappy technique and give me some pointers;)
"Ooohhhh noooo man: do it like this!"

I wanted to share a quick video of me playing my Willie Weeks Alleva Coppolo. This is from a live in studio set we did for Lifechurch.tv. There are 3 total sets and this is the first of the 3.
Set List.
Song of Hope
There is a Call
You Have Stirred My Soul

Turned out good I think. We recorded it at our studio outside of Houston and had a blast.

I am loving the bass and I actually think I struck a deal with Leona1 for the Burgundy Mist Alleva Coppolo P Bass!

Let me know what you think of the video :)

I digging your tone, big time.
Very full, thick, tone, with nice top end.
Does J J pickups, alter tone on P-Bass that much?
Is neck P-bass width on your bass? (bigger than Jazz bass)
Any effects on video?
Jimmy's basses are happening.

If I tried to slap in front of Marcus, he'd probably just slap me. ;) :D

No Fear guys. If I had an opportuinity to play in front of Marcus, I wouldn't pass it up.;)

Give my best and at the very least he'd have to respect that.

After all everyone including Marcus knows there aren't many that can play like him.

God Bless, Ray

Do you know if there are more white pickup covers laying around the AC shop that Jimmy would make available? I have always loved that look and would love to put them on my green AC......

Hey Ryan,
I am going to the shop this weekend, I will find out for you. If not though, I would imagine stock Fender covers ought to work on 4 string pickups - those should be standard size, correct?

Another color that works well with matching headstock, imo, is CAR or trans red... Maybe even trans blue like Jimmy's BK signature basses. What you do you think?

I would definitely agree with you. I LOVE the way my CAR to trans looks with the matching headstock. I mean, I've got a rosewood board, but I think it would look sick with a maple board as well.

The green Willie Weeks bass has a P width neck and to me is really a jazz bass (in tone) but a P bass (in looks and feel)

There are effects in a few spots but mainly just a tad of overdrive to help the bass cut through. I run my overdrive through an Xotic blender pedal so I can just blend the overdrive with the dry bass tone... helps it to cut a bit but doesn't loose the bottom end.

Like I have said before this is the perfect bass for me, I am so lucky that is was available when I called Jimmie. I actually called him and said:
"How much to make the green bass on your website"
and he said:
"I actually have that bass sitting right here, I just got it back from Willie Weeks, want it?"

Fate:hyper:

Thanks, I actually have some stock fender ones and they don't quite fit. The spacing on the pole pieces on the AC is a tad wider.

I also know that the neck and bridge pickups are slightly different sizes from each other so if he did have any left I would need to make sure that one is a neck size and one is a bridge size.

Thanks for the help:bassist:

Here is a better picture of this color combination:

Late on this, but wow, this one looks perfect.

No, I thought I saw the blue version of the trans red on the website somewhere but I can't find it now.

Gotcha. Do you remember if it was a light trans blue or if it was a darker blue? I haven't seen a trans blue AC and I always thought it would be a great looking color...
