Hey, I REALLY like that color!
ACLG-5a-1.gif

I need better pictures of that bass and my KPB-5.

Dan K.

It's funny, the color was the only thing I questioned before I bought the bass, that and the headstock shape :ninja:, but both grew on me. It's got a few more scars since those shots were taken and I may get the frets dressed, as there's some fret wear due to having hi beams on it before it's current nickels but I still smile every time I play it. My favorite gig of the year is coming up, opening night of the Sundance film fest. It's a bar gig but always entertaining due to the d list celebs we get.

dave

ps. Dan what's the vintage of yours? I wonder if they're sisters ;)

Wow! This thread is blowing up - 5 pages in a day, are you kidding me?!!!

Well, the show is over and now it's time to come down from my 4-day high. Truly a great time. Special thanks to Jimmy and Sebnem for letting me assume the role of assistant exhibitor and trust me enough to show people around the instruments. I must say what I loved most were the looks on the first timer's faces - probably the same look I had with my first experience last year!
I'm kinda sad it's all over, the show was great, the gear was great but the hang was even better! But hey, I got my new RA5 to keep me company. :bassist:

Enough talk... Here are my Alleva-Coppolo pics. Other pics will be posted tomorrow for anyone who cares to see them.

Thanks to Yohann and Vic for your thoughts on the walnut basses in the previous thread. :)

You're welcome Bernie. And to add, I really fell in love with these walnut basses today. They just sound beautiful period. Whether or not you classify them as authentic J or P tone, they just sound beautiful. The 5 string just has this natural woody growl to it, a smooth but yet aggressive attack on the entire fretboard. I wanna say a natural organic tone if that makes any sense.

PM me if you have any other questions... Or ask here.

YC Thanks for the pictures! Really great. What does Jimmy call the bass with the single P pickup in the case? Looks totally different from anything else.

That RA (I am assuming) in CAR with the white pickguard looks awesome!

My pleasure! Do you mean the pink and blue basses? Those are the new prototype "Shorties" 30" scale with most massive P sound I've heard - the pink one anyway. Jimmy says he's been working on this pickup for 10 years and I think he nailed it!

The CAR bass is indeed an RA4 and belongs to Mitch Starkman - killer bass!

The way you described the tone is right up my alley! I'll probably hit you up with a PM soon. Thanks!

The RA5 I got from KJung is killin! Can't put it down. Definitely want another AC to compliment this one.

One more... here's the RA5 that I had for a while (the new owner digs it!)... same rig (TecAmp), DR Hi Beams:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

You can really hear the difference between the aggressive upper mid grind and brightness and aggressiveness of the LM, and the smoother tone of the RA, with the more pure, sizzly top end and warmer, slightly more compressed low end.

Hey! Glad to see you on the thread. That is a beautiful bass, and I'm happy you dig it! The finish and gloss neck on that bass is about as good as anything I've ever seen.

I'll post up a pic for you so the rest of the gang knows which bass we are talking about!
