I'm not sure if he does, but if so, yeah, absolutely. Thing is, I don't think that'd matter. I'm guessing most folks would just order the current spec and be happy with it, so it wouldn't come up often enough to be a bummer either way.
Yes it is (it was pointed out above that there is no truss rod adjustment cutout on the guard, hence a one piece neck with bullet truss rod adjuster at the headstock). Not sure if it is the new larger body style or not for the 5's.

Guys who were at Namm,,,,,,How heavy (please guess) were the Red LM's? Specifically the four string but I listen to any.
I asked Jimmy about the weight of that one and he'd said probally 13 Lb's
now said that kinda Joking and said he didn't know for sure and that he'd weigh it. The he said that the black one was the heaviest and that nobody would buy it, so it's a shop bass.

No, of course he's not going to make a radical change. I think the change was fairly subtle, but again, I just prefer it smaller, so that's what I'd insist on. So while I highly doubt he'd play that kinda' hard ball, if he did choose refuse to build the older body style, I'd probably just stick with my LG. I mean, as it is, it's not like I'm cryin' for an LM or RA. My LG is still totally doin' it for me.
Let me just say this... they were definitely full size J5's with typical dense northern ash bodies. I'd imagine most LM's these days would be between 10-11 pounds. I asked Jimmy to "kinda' keep an eye out" for an ash billet he'd be happy with that'd net a 9 pound (or close to it) LM and he kinda' laughed like, "ok, but don't hold yer breath", so I don't think it's in the cards. That said, I really dug the RA that was there, and I think he's cool with the kind of alder that would yield a 9 pound RA, so that's still a potential someday I 'spose. Just got off the phone with Jimmy a little while ago and, once again, couldn't be any friendlier or more accommodating. Again, a guy that you want to give your money to.

lol...no fear! The fretless is safe in your hands...Well as far as the Rootbeer, that one has turned out even better (after the year) then when I played it at the booth last year..and it was already killer. I've warmed to the color alot..its classy and understated in a beautiful way ..with the see -through grain making it more interesting than the original Fender color.
I have to say though, the new one- piece necks and slightly heavier ash have a great tonal vibe.... hard hitting fundamental and focus but with still a great deal of bottom end ( the big necks contribute a bit IMO). The new body style is noticable but not drastic at all. The pickguard is slightly altered as well and is a nice touch as well with the new headstock. I may get Jimmy to make me one and then compare it with the Rootbeer and make a decision..in THAT case....if he dosent take it in a trade...
It would have to be one hell of an LM to knock the Rootbeer out!

The 4 string LM was reasonable.. maybe 10 pounds for an ash body.. im only guessing.. but it did not kill me so i guess its OK.
I was talking with tom barney and he want sthe natural LM5. that as the heaviest bass i may have ever played.. but tom likes it at least that much... he likes real heavy.. yup im a whimp... I dont think i picked up the red LM5 though. didnt even know one was there.... cant remember.
im still not home yet.. i stayed at jimmys for a few more days and watched the cutting of bodies for you guys.. and i even got one satred for myself that has been on hold for about 10 months or so,... it was fun watching my body get the shave of a life time.. it will be a LG5/mutt once again

He is back.. we actually went to the shop sunday night after the show.. he was sorting a few things out to start woring on monday... it was 10:30 at night and Sebnem was winding my new pups for my P5.
I actually found a suprize bythe winding machine.. i said wahts that bass on the floor... it was bewteen two work benches in the floor... i bend donw and pickit up. I said Jimmy is this a real one? yup he said.. A '55 P bass.. slightly worn.. real nice.. I will post pics when i get home.. i laughted about it..
he said look around and see what else you can find so i did.. mmmm a '65 jazz.. a'63 p just tucked away like an old mop leaning in the corner... vintage stuff everywhere... including my old 62 oly white P bass....
i havent seen those basses since NYC days... sweeeet!

Hi, i'm new to the AC club , my LG sunburst classic was supposed to be at the NAMM show but jimmy had a small set back on the body and it will be ready in feb, will post a pick of the bass as soon as i have received it, about the bigger body shape here's a answer i got from jimmy in dec , this made me go for the bigger body shape:

Well the body is only about 1/8" over all wider than what I used to do and maybe 1/4" (or just shy of) wider than what a vintage 4 string would be. Another change I made is body thickness. I am actually going thinner than which oddly enough is what my mid '60's J basses are. Apparently up till now all the basses I was building were about .100 thicker than they should have been compared to a real vintage J. It's not a lot maybe a E string thickness but I really think it makes a difference. Guitars are the .100 thicker than basses and originally I built guitars (over ten years ago) So I think I just assumed that vintage guitars and vintage basses had the same thickness... well they don't... which maybe a good thing now that I am going with the slightly wider body for the five, skinning the .100 off the top just may compensate for any weight issue. One more change that I went back to and your bass will have is neck pocket depth. I have been going deeper than vintage because a lot of players didn't like the guard but wanted that same distance between the bass top and the strings. Well now I am going back to vintage and it's the exact 1960- mid '60's depth (shallow). I built a few basses like this (again) and man it's amazing! So think about the bass you played this summer but just add a little more aggressive tone. What happens is the string tension changes just a hair, enough to give you more tone but not enough tension where you will notice a difference in string/playability tension.
Trust me I'm onto something with the new updates. I really want to offer you and all the other members of the "Alleva-Coppolo Famiglia" the absolute best that I can offer. I am looking forward to building your bass.
