What gig are you playing? That red curtain looks very familiar. And what rig is that behind the wonderful basses?

hey, the tour i did was in Sweden with a Swedish pop/country singer named Jill Johnson, her records are recorded in Nashville, Bass rig is a Carl Martin custom shop 200 w amp with a 4x10 bass cab, made in Denmark, really really nice and good looking bass rig, i love it,sounds like a fender bassman,tight and fast low end,nice mid and sweet&clean high end. Works so good with the LG-5:)

Gorgeous basses and rig! I'm sure the tone emanating from that combination is incredible.

How flexible is Jimmy with the specs on a KPB4? I was hoping he might be flexible with the choice of neck widths and profiels -- say, perhaps putting an A width neck on it (1.5"). I saw some of the used A-Cs for sale here with narrower necks, but his production models seem like they have B width necks.

Also, anyone here familiar with the Resurrection model posted on his site? From what I gather, it's a 60s J-bass with no preamp. Any idea on the cost?

I was at Jimmy's today also inquiring about the Resurrection. He hasn't officially priced it but he said expect it to be around 4k. He had the shop bass and it sounded really good with a very slim neck but you would have to ask him about how slim you want the neck to be because he did say it should have come out like an LG4's neck.

Hey guys , hope you all are fine!


For my LG 5 ( rosewood) on order i thought to go for the colour Candy Apple Orange Juice .

But i am really digging the Mustard also.
Does any of you have a picture of a Mustard Gold LG 5 (so that is with a rosewood neck) . Not sure if Mustard looks great with the rosewood neck .

It looks great with a maple neck ( see AC website).

Thank you Mitch. You've actually made me rethink a lot of things.

Generally when we met and you first played my KBP5 (at the time) through your Epi 215 rig it sounded amazing and nothing like what I had been doing with it.

Since I have put TIs on my LG5 I have been struggling with coaxing a pleasing tone out of it. I am coming to realize that my amp/cab combos I have put together have been done to get a pleasing tone of the basses I play LG5 with nickels, the UV70 I just sold that will be replaced with an LM5/hi beams along with my double bass amplification.

Most of the time I use an IAMP Pro / NL210 cabinet and it's great for those basses with round wound strings on it. The tweeter and general nature of that cabinet seem to accentuate the honkyness of the TIs rather then creamy smooth low end.

I am planning on pairing the IAMP Pro with my VL208s when I get home tonight and turning off the tweeter. This may get me to that creamy smooth tone you are getting from the KBP5...

I hope we'll see

Pete if it helps any, I also keep the tone knob on the KBP5 either completely rolled back or about 95% rolled back and I let the string and my amp do all the work. I used to think that playing tweeterless cabs or turning the tweeter off would help me get that warm fat sound, but I eventually realized that it was the size of the cabinets themselves that was the problem. Since flatwounds put out way more fundamental, my tone has to be more about presence. Therefore, a 2x10 or 2 1x12s cannot sonically create the tone I want. Hence my 2x15 collection lol....I've never used any of the iamp heads but I've played both the EA 2x10 and 208s and was quite pleased with the sound....either way let me know how the experimenting goes!
