haha soooorrrrrryyyyyyy (jay Z impression)....it's totally doing it on it's own! And good to know! Pretty cool that it was one of the last made NYC basses....

My kbp5 is a Dalbergia as well as the New LG that is coming..

Here is a clip of my buddy Jason (TBer Vision), slapping on my LG5 through the new Bergantino AE212 and Markbass F500.

Jason is waiting for his LM5, which I'm looking very forward to checking out (with the one piece neck, etc.). So, this was an Alleva-Coppolo fix for him to ease the pain of waiting:D

This clip is kind of interesting in that (besides Jason's nice playing!) you can hear the various different tonal capabilities of the bass pretty well... passive (the gain matched passive section of the clip sounds particularly good to me), active flat, and active with a bit of bass and treble boost (nice and wide and relatively modern). Lot's of tone in there.

Nice old school slap tone to me (strings... well broken in DR Lo Rider Nickels).

That's it... I don't care if my strings aren't worn out yet... I'm throwing my DR LR Nickels on my LG this week.

125 for me (Hi Beams on the LM and Lo Rider Nickels on the LG). The neck is stiff enough on both basses that I'm able to keep the set balanced (i.e., 20mm increments from the G to the B) without that huge B string thing and still get a nice tone and feel. Probably not a big deal, and the 130 would be a good option if you are one who digs in a little more on the B and wants a touch more stiffness and tension (especially with the Hi Beams and Sunbeams.. the Lo Riders with the more taditional hex core are a bit stiffer feeling in general).

AC SS. Really great strings, but I gotta' try some nickels on that bad boy. I won't chuck'em tho... prolly one set of strings I may put back on someday. I rarely do that, but they have enough life left in them it'd be stupid to throw them away.

I really don't do rounds but I have a set of Jimmy's nickel rounds and they're even better than the DR sunbeams I used to speak so highly of....you should really give em a try....to me they're the perfect balance between SS brightness and flatwound warmth

I'm generally pretty much an SS guy across the board, but we'll see how the LR nickels do for me. If I dig'em more than last time I tried nickels on various basses, I'll start looking at other brands, and of course the AC's would be on my short list. :)

Jason inspired me! Here's another clip of the LG slapping, with a simple (cheesy!) drum track for some context. My time locks in around the minute mark:p:eek:, and the last 30 seconds or so emphasizes the nice low end growl you get from the LG when slappin' with nickel rounds down low. Amp is flat, tweeter at noon, A-C pre engaged... 10% bass boost.

No stinkin' compressor needed with this bass... even as heck!

The volume limiter on my little recorder doesn't kick in for the first 5 seconds or so, but then it is pretty balanced.

The LG just sounds great... warm and growly to my ears, and that Berg/MB rig provides a very transparent platform... no compression... very even... sounds like the LG!

Man, I've never had the chance to play an RA but after spending a little time with Ken's LG it's making me think that in theory I should LOVE the RA model...

Oh well...I guess that means that I need to order 2 more AC's...:bassist::bassist::bassist:
