It been a great experience so far...

And as far as the looks/specs... I really dig the look of Jonno's RA. Though Jimmy said that at this point it is more of a '74 or late '73 - more like an RA w/ Ash than an LM. With the truss rod adjustment at the heel.

It doesn't matter to me what the actual model is... It's gonna look and play great I think!

Alright, I just have to ask. This bass looks like one of the "Holy Grail" basses. Why did you (or he) sell it. What could possibly be wrong with this beauty that you would shun it? Bad neck, bad tone, bad what?

Just got back a few hours ago from Pete's place. He's a great, great guy. He let me come by and check out his AC's. Both are fantastic instruments -- I'm glad I got the chance to play them both.

Now I have the bug for an LG pretty badly though.... If anyone wants to part with theirs, let me know.

HOLY CRAP dude... NOTHING. The original owner was Tony (XavidmanX). He's been in and out of financial difficulty for a while (tho I hope it's settled down now). Anyway, he had a chance to get this bass and jumped on it, but then he had a nasty downturn that forced him to flip it. Yeah, no way did he just wanna' get rid of it. Again, this LG is THE reason I bought an AC. THE reason. I had serious trouble returning it to its rightful owner... I must say... ;) :D

I have only seen 2 basses on this site that have the bullet truss rod adjustment at the headstock. The majority of the AC's are adjustment at the heel.

Speaking to Jimmy recently on this he says that he felt the one piece maple neck and the 5 bolt neck plate with micro tilt was slightly more compressed and thus, he has moved away from this feature per se.

Curious as to other AC owners and "forum-ists" thoughts on this build feature, and particularly if anyone actually owns an AC 5 bass with the above unique features.

The only 2 basses that I have seen are a Bing Cherry LM Deluxe 5, and an Harvest Gold LM Deluxe 5

My Sunbeams showed up in the mail yesterday so I scrambled to put them on and take off the TIs when I got home from work, figuring Joel isn't going to get a good representation with the TIs. Man those sumbeams are bright for nickels right out of the box. Joel it was great to finally meet you in person, hopefully we can do it again some time. I hope you get an LG with a Dalbergia Negra board, nitro finish and bent plate bridge. It will save me thousands if I can just come over and stare at/play yours. BTW we should have spent more time playing the LG in passive mode.

My LM has the bullet truss rod and one piece maple neck, no micro tilt. I can't imagine either the bullet truss or the micro tilt are going to have any effect on tone. So if I am reading what Jimmy told you correctly is that the one piece maple neck sounds slightly compressed. That is interesting I don't know that I would have described it that way at all. I certainly hear this bass a little differently when compared to how others have described their LM or if they provided clips.

There have only been a couple basses that I know of with the micro tilt, but he's made plenty of one piece necks/bullet truss rods starting with the ones released at NAMM this past January. There's a bunch of pics of these if you look back through the older A/C club threads. My bass which is on order will have the one piece neck and bullet truss rod adjustment.

I can't imagine Jimmy saying that the one piece necks sound compressed, since he's continued to make them after making that first big batch, and is still making them right now. I know that he stopped doing the micro tilt after a couple basses, but I wouldn't think that would affect tone at all.
