Yeah, but they'll calm down, and in the mean time, the passive tone will fix it perfectly. Also, those round core strings are wonderful in that they have a really long life cycle in that "middle zone" where the initial sheen has calmed down, but they still have a great lively tone.

Keep us posted on how those do for ya. I'd be surprised if they didn't get the job done, but we'll see. :)

So if I am reading what Jimmy told you correctly is that the one piece maple neck sounds slightly compressed. That is interesting I don't know that I would have described it that way at all. I certainly hear this bass a little differently when compared to how others have described their LM or if they provided clips.

Jimmy had said that the micro tilt itself, not the one piece maple neck, had a slightly more compressed tone. I do notice that your bass has a 4 bolt plate and not a 5 bolt micro tilt plate. Too, I diligently went over all of the photos I could find on this forum ( unless I missed sites that had to be clicked onto ) and now I know of only 3 LM Deluxe AC 5's with the bullet at the headstock.

I trust I am not confusing or imparting false and misleading info on Jimmy's superlative craftsmanship. He will likely build whatever a customer ultimately desires BUT he nonetheless has a very creative and strong mind of his own. Thus, one could in effect have a micro tilt neck option for his custom ordered piece, right ?

I don't own an AC yet, but DR Sunbeam nickels I have been sworn to for over 5 years--used on many many basses with the same results ( save a BB5000 YAMAHA--too slinky--not taut enough )..cheers

My LM5 is trans butterscotch blonde, with the blocks and binding.

I was initially suprised that Jimmy says the micro tilt compresses the tone but thinking about it, if your changing the contact in the neck pocket that would change things somewhere. And of course if Jimmy notices it he has a masterful ear for this stuff. Again I do not have a micro tilt...

I tell you I really love the one piece neck/fingerboard and skunk stripe. I really love the feel of the neck and BTW mine is also significantly chunkier back towards the headstock (I don't know if anybody else has this shape?). Joel or Mitch may comment on it as they are the only ones who have played it so far. To be honest I think not having a binding would make the one piece even cooler since the beauty is hidden.

I am going to the NYC/INTL GTG this Sunday (missed last year as my wife was giving birth) I am guessing by the time the GTG is over we may have some other folks joining in some AC chat...

Just put a set of Labella Flats on my new (to me) EUT5. Sounds AWESOME- as it did before with rounds on, but am looking forward to my gig tomorrow(Sun) night!!!

How are these basses THAT good?? I mean, I've had a Couple of EBMM Stingray 5's & still have mY Warwick $$ that I love, & my Precision- I luv also... but these or THIS AC EUT5 is simply superb!!!!! magic dust????

The EUT is a bass made especially for EXPORT AFAIK, & thats about all I kow re the actual bass's differences.

&..... The BODY wood on mine is PRIMAVERA wood, neck is maple, board is birdseye maple, neck plate says Prototype EUT5 '72 .

Jimmy replied to my email re this bass - he knew exactly what bass I was enquiring about!!! SAid it was a PRIME bass & would be worth $XXXX.00 - & to get one to AUS another $XXX!!! Thats a LOTTA 'X's!! ;0)

He also said Primavera wood was similar to ALDER in tone & Mahogony in grain.
That it had Nitro painted body, poly coated neck as 'nitro doesn't hold up well on maple boards' & '72 jazz bass pup spacing.
Also that the EUT WAS a dealer exclusive, but that's changed now.
From Jimmy's quick, concise & pleasant replies to my questions, the comments from AC users on here at TB, & also from the guy selling the EUT5 here in AUS, I was able to discern that I'd be 99% sure I'd like this bass a lot!

As I live in Tasmania-an Island state, southernmost in AUS.- I can't just drive over & try the bass { well I COULD'VE but would've taken a good few days to get there:-/ } I HAVE to be willing to buy online or 'un-tried'... & thus I wanted as much info on it as poss.
Thankfully, I LOVE this EUT5 & it'll no doubt SAVE me $$$, as I'll probly be getting rid of a couple of other basses now.
Cant wait to play it tonite, as just put the Labella flats on!!! - Sunday eve's for the last 5 yrs, we've a jazz/blues type gig in our 4 piece band 'Black Coffee'. My lovely wife -lead voc's, Piano, Bass, Drums.
I also take my heavily modded Palatino EUB, bit of a poor 'distant relative' of the AC EUT5 ;-) but does it's job of giving an 'uprite thump'.

Hi Guys, I went to the shop again yesterday to do some more work on my LM5... Now I can see why Jimmy hates sanding, LOL! But I am having a lot of fun. I will update my photobucket album and share in case anyone cares to see the progress pics.

And I have big news to share... Back when I first met Jimmy, I placed my order for the LM5 and my friends Miko and Ed placed their orders, LG5 and LM5 respectively. Anyway, Miko has since cancelled his LG5 order because as you know he's bought 3 other A-C's since... Guess who his cancelled LG5 is going to come NAMM time.... Oh ya baby, yours truly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hyper::bassist: I will have it done like the Resurrection 4 on the site, minus the control plate and white pickup covers.

Oh sorry, I should've been clearer... I just meant in looks.
Same color w/ matching headstock & mint pickguard. It will have the preamp... And no slanted pickup. :D

Since my LM5 will now have a Maple board, then the Indian Rosewood I originally picked out will most likely go on this bass, unless I do Honduran. Probably binding w/ dots too.

BTW - Just reiterating that the binding on my LM5 hides the beauty of the one piece neck/fingerboard. Of course I spec'd the binding before having the option of the one piece.

Anyone going with that option I'd suggest no binding so you can see it in it's glory. Just my opinion..

Both ACs got a lot of love at the NYC/INTL GTG yesterday.
