hey mitch, here´s your ´69 p-bass along with my AC LG5 with Nordstrand pups in 70´s wind, used it in the studio yesterday, its the best p-bass i ever played and my alleva LG5 also sounds great , hope all is well with you/P.

ahhh Patrik you just ruined my day with that! haha told you dude, best P I've ever played....if I didn't only play 5s now I would have NEVER let that guy go! Glad you're enjoying it bro!!!

haha your TI strings were totally dead:) no, the TI`s are back on the bass now, just tried a set of ghs pressure wounds that day for a little more brightness , nice strings and i will use them again but your dead TI strings and my ampeg b15s are just pure motown

hey joe, thanks for recommending the nordstrands in 70´s wind, mj at duncan never got back to me so i went with nord pups, my alleva lg5 now sounds very close to my ´64 jazz,i´m really happy with theese pups, nice airy top end and not so much mid as the alleva pups, thanks again for your help i´l get back to you soon with soundclips and info about the pre that i pulled out that you were interested in

Did you have stock AC's in your LG first? What prompted the change?

since patrik rarely posts ill give you the cliffs notes. he wanted it to sound more like his 64 jazz which those old basses have lower wind pickups and are thus airier up top. not as grindy. he pulled the pre first. didnt do the trick. acoustically it still sounded like wanted though. hence the pickup change.the nord 70's wind really doesnt need to be called a 70's wind but it works from a marketing stand point i guess. theyre just a set with plain enamel wire and less turns than the 60's set.

Cool -- Thanks man.

My LG's sound pretty darn 60's like as-is. I couldn't imagine swapping out the pickups.

I just caught wind of a SWEET LG thats goin up for sale soon.... if youre lookin...get the $$$$ ready....Man do i love these basses! I WISH I WAS RICH! lol
I'm gonna' guess Joel is deciding which one fits him best and will pass the other on to some other lucky person.

Just a guess, but really, who needs two LG's, right? :D

No, it's actually not me. I'm still deciding what to do. I really think I may keep both. I thought the CAOJ would take out the Surf Green bass, but that hasn't been the case.

Something else may go instead.

In any case, I wonder who's LG5 it is. If it's Sunburst... this could get ugly for me! :hiding:

Wow, I really thought I had this one. Now I'm REALLY curious!

...the plot thickens!...

Hey Joel,

Man, that Surf Green is a special one. I've played a bunch of them, and that one is 'it' IMO. I'd hold onto that. Probably the prettiest bass I've ever seen, and as you know, it plays like butter. Hard to improve on it.

If I wasn't such an ash maple 70's guy, I'd still have it!

Ken,

I could not agree more. That bass is absolutely 'IT.' It's not going anywhere.
