I've been playing my LM5 a lot lately. This thing is kicking my butt. It's amazing how Jimmy gets the period correct vibe right in such a holistic way. There's not one specific thing I can pinpoint that does it, but the overall package just feels/sounds like I remember a good 70's Jazz feeling/sounding. It really is like a perfect 70's Jazz in a 5 string package.

I also noticed that this one is on the 10.5 lbs range of the scale. Initially, I thought it was under 10 lbs. I've debated endlessly with Jonno about weight not mattering a lot but, I have to agree in this case, the weight seems to help give it some heft and snap. There's certainly nothing scientific from a cause/effect standpoint to that statement -- My gut tells me it helps though in this case.

Anyway, I love my LM. I actually like it as much as my LG's (for different reasons of course.)

My new 81009! I absolutely love this thing! Sounds super old and feels incredible.

I've always been on the "weight matters" side of things with ash (especially). There is a range for my taste usually..on the top end most of the time anything over 12- 12.5 pounds starts to get too compressed especially in a 5.

I *almost* love that bass.
The pickguard kills what's otherwise a perfect hit, aesthetically, for me.

YMMV of course, and I'm sure it sounds and plays wonderfully!
