Depends on the oil used.

I've had tung oiled basses that were easily touched up with lemon oil, but Jimmy's description of it being a "water based finish" I have no idea what he's actually using. Come to think of it, are we sure it's an oil finish at all?

I'd email and ask what the finish is and then it would be pretty easy to figure out what maintenance (if any) needs to be done to it.

I emailed him and was told it's an oil finish.

Guys,

I have AC's coming out of my ears these days! Three LG's, two LM's and a third LM on the way.

They are all really similar. One is slightly heavier than the other two and, I believe, as a result has a bit more focus and compression.

My LM's sound almost identical.

It is quite amazing how consistent the LM's are. Every one I've played (4 in total) have sounded literally identical, even with different body styles and a bit different weight.

I have heard some variance in the LG's, with some quite 'airy' (I would describe the green one that way), and others with a bit more meat. Pretty similar though, and a slight EQing gets them pretty close. There was an LG that Mikebass had, and other TBers owned it also that had a different board on it (not rosewood... can't remember), and that sat in a bit of a different place... brighter and grindier than the other LG's I've owned and played.

This. I've been on the LM5 for a few months now and it just destroys all. Hell, I'm even quoted in the new Bass Player w/Marcus on the cover in the new gear section up front with my thoughts on the instrument :cool:

The LM 5 was a game-changer for me.

You may be talking about the LG5 I had with a Honduran board. It was a great bass but the LM is better.

And Mitch I'm not surprised that you got rid of the KBP and RA but those were great basses. The LM is a game changer.
