Why would you want another LG5 when you just sold one:confused: Between that and the 6 DB750's, I don't quite get it:eek::smug::hmm:

I didn't sell the LG5 I traded it to get back one of my Sadowskys with the thought that I could always get another LG5 but I could not get THAT specific Sadowsky. It was the only trade bait I had that the other guy was really interested in. I said at the time and still maintain that the LG5 was the best 5 I have ever had my hands on and I look forward to the next one. As far as the DB750 is concerned it is a love/Hate thing for me. I LOVE the amp but hate the weight. I recently had Jan-Al make me a large rack based system on heavy casters and the DB750 is now my road Rig ONLY. I use it with an NV610 or NV215 or both. I don't have to lift it anymore so I am back to it (at least for the time being). I have sold my T-Funk 550A and I use the TF750 for my rehearsals and smaller things.

Aside from all that, I am doing my part to keep the economy going!

Word!

The Sunburst is right up there too! That is as vintage Fender looking as it gets.

I'm not sure how much longer I can resist... :hiding:

GO FOR IT!!! I know I've been waiting for mine for close to 17 years now, but you and I both know that this is THE 5 you've been wanting forever.......I just want to know, which model ARE YOU getting?..............:p

What's so standard about the Standard models...........Can't seem to see a big difference between them and the LG-5.......

I believe the 'standard' is the 4 string version of the LG-5... I think.

Time for a review, to be sure that I have it right!

LM-5.. classic 70's J... ash/maple, 70's pickup placement. Meant to cop a relatively passive (NOT J on steriods) sort of vintage 70's vibe, thin poly satin neck finish.. almost feels like natural with a little oil

LG-5... classic mid 60's vibe.. alder/RW, 60's pickup placement, similar thin poly satin neck finish as the LG.

Standard... I believe that's the 4 string version of the LG-5

Modern.... More of a 70's Marcus thing... blocks, binding ash/maple, 70's placement, and I think a thicker, shinier poly coated neck and fretboard.

RA5... kind of a hybrid.... alder, maple, shiny poly finish on the blocks and binding neck and fretboard with Nitro body finish, 70's pickup placement... a 70's vibe with a little more snap than the LG-5 and a little fatter sounding than the LM-5.

I'm just guessing on some of the above, since Jimmy's site is pretty loose regarding the differences among these basses:smug:

So, I assume the A-C experts will correct, and I'll edit this post to make sure it's right.

Yeah Bernie. Come to think of it, you are a died in the wool, Fender / Vintage vibe kind of guy! Sunburst AC for you my friend! LG-5?

Guys,

Yeah, it will be an LG5 for sure. With Jimmy's two band and tone control.

The Sunburst is killing me! So classic. I also love Ice Blue Metallic. Like Andrews' bass and my old Nordy.

So other than that, I'm set! Just need to decide on the finish.

The finish is really the only thing I have yet to decide on. Well that and whether I want the 66 vibe with dots and binding.

I'll have to talk to Jimmy soon and iron some things out.

Awesome Bernie! I will be so happy for you! You deserve it man. You're such a cool part of TB community. ... Maybe we can get our orders in the same batch? I really need to find out what these are all about too! I am leaning towards an LG-5 based on what I've read. Dots for sure. Might do a spin on Ken's and go for Rosewood FB with Gold body/matching Gold Headstock and mint PG. mmmmmmm!!!! That would be cool yes?

'66 Transition style w/ a 3TS finish....... that's hot..........Damn...........you're making me rethink things........nononono....it's been long enough!

Thanks Gary! I appreciate your kind words. It's guys like you that make TB great.

I think that would be a great combo! The Gold is really a sweet finish. The mint guard really sets if off too. I think the rosewood would be a cool contrast.

Keep us updated on your decision! I'll do the same.

That's something that I'll definitely have to ask him. In a perfect world, I'd go with Dalbergia but it's pricey!

So I'm gonna see if Jimmy offers Indian Rosewood. I had that on a bass before and it was great.

Man, the rosewood on Mike's bass is just amazing. Not sure what type it is, but it's among the nicest I've seen (along with the stuff that Carey Nordstand uses)... deep, rich, a little 'oily' feeling, grained, patterned... just beautiful.

I haven't ordered yet, I'm on the fence, but pretty sure it'll happen once I finish my taxes :D It'll be your typical LG-5, not sure the fingerboard though. Ice blue w/ matching headstock.

Whats the differences in the rosewood fingerboards that Jimmy offers?

I know he has Indian, Honduras, and African Madagascar Rosewood..........He may be out of the African RW though.......Indian is the standard RW he uses....all others have an upcharge with Brazillian Dalbergia Negra having the most brutal upcharge of all........
