I use Sad nickles...and I have tried both the Blue and Black. I like my Sad. Strings like I like I like my Walker Whiskey. Black is my favorite, but I've been known to try some Blue. ;)
Also, I think Ken Smith Strings are superb! I don't know why...but I love'em.

Does anyone know if Jimmy's paint guy could do Antigua w/ matching PG? I'm craving a maple neck KBP5 in Antigua...prolly with polly, ala 70s.

I just put a set of the New Sadowsky BLUE Nickels on mine and it is awesome! I have also used the Sadowsky regular Nickels and the Sadowsky Flats and they are all great but I prefer the Blues over the others.

Peace,

T
I ordered a set of Sadowsky BLUE Nickels for my Alleva today.
I have been using DR Sunbeams for years.
I can't wait to check out these Sadowsky strings!:bassist:

you getting a warm vintage vibe from those..........?

LOL! I was actually surprised at the sound I got from them...I almost didn't even bother to put them on but I liked them on my PJ so I figured what the hey. Turns out they sound superb! Just the right combination of brightness in the string and warmth from the bass. The slap sound is great too and is a good deal better than my maple boarded basses. I usually prefer maple for slapping but the AC is so nice and responsive and sounds great. I Highly recommend the Sadowsky strings and if I were going to endorse strings I wouldn't even consider anything else. I have played DR Sunbeams, DR Hi Beams, DR Lo-Riders, DR Marcus, D'Addario XL, and Rotosounds for years but I haven't bought anything else but the Sadowskys for about 2 years or so now! Give them a try!

Peace,

T

Are talking about the flats?

Aj

Are YOU talking about the flats? I was talking about the BLUES...LOL!

The flats were really nice to but there is something going on with the BLUES that I really dig. Plenty of snap, plenty of clarity and definition. With the Bass pre flat, and with it cranked it never got loose or too boomy or shrill. Very warm, but still a nice even, airy tone as well. Very clean sounding with no fret clank and very little string noise at all. I am very impressed and I ordered another 5 pack a week or so ago! (of the BLUES that is, I keep a few sets of flats around just in case anyway).

Peace,

T

On a KBP-5, what would you do if given a choice between:

A) Solid or 3TB w/Poly Finish + Brazilian Rosewood

B) Metallic or 3TB w/Nitro Finish + Indian Rosewood

I guess the question is, would there be a discernible difference in tone between the two specs? To me it would be more asthetics. From what I read and have seen here the Nitro guy does a killer 3TB.
