My bass is on it's way... Here is a pic Jimmy sent me. KBP4 CS with "A" shape neck. I love the new headstock design. I went all out with this baby. I have a feeling I may be in for a long wait though.

It is going to end up looking like this:

If I win the lottery, I would buy a matching LG5 (TB model)

I had the Wille Weeks KBP4 in 3-tone burst a couple years back - looked very similar to that one (though yours looks like Ash Body, no? Mine was Alder) - and it was a sweetheart of a P-Bass!

Speaking of KBP's...

I picked up this KBP5 Custom Supreme direct from Jimmy last week - it is in transit to me as I write this... Thanks for hooking me up, Jimmy!

Dahlbergia Negra FB, Alder Body, and, of course, "Plum Crazy" color scheme! I must say, I tend to favor more conservative looking finishes, but something about this bass just spoke to me - the Plum Crazy works great with the DB board, IMO...

I'll know later this week how she plays, but I've never had anything less than stellar from Jimmy...

Will be fun... I'll shoot more pix when she turns up!

Since I'm posting pix... Here's my new AC Resurrection 5 "Upgrade" I grabbed from Chris @ Bass San Diego (great Cat!)...

These are stock pix from them - I will shoot more this week when sun decides to come out!

The Oly White lacquer is sublimely good (my favorite F-type color)... Dahlbergia Negra FB, Alder Body, and the "upgrade" part is to add in Jimmy's fine 2-band EQ to the normally passive electronics package. Weighs in at mid-9 lbs.

I have been playing this one unplugged all week (just moved house and all my other gear is in PODS container ) and it just rings - harmonics are full and pure and the B-string integrates wonderfully.

This has been a month of big moves for me in so many ways... I said goodbye to California (at least for the time being) and sold a lot of studio gear (but not all). However, I missed my previosly sold AC's and have made a big move back into Jimmy's fine instruments once again... In addition to the above, there is Jonno's fine LM5 coming my way, too (thank you, good Sir!)...

Crushing to the bank account, to say the least, but I do not foresee needing any more assistance in the P or J types in the near future...

Great looking basses! I have been playing my hippy pbass on quite a few recordings lately. It's hard to play live because the body is so light that it neck dives pretty hard.

Nice piece of fingerboard wood that you have there...
There is something about the DN that i like on a P5.
The DN is on my next LG and KBP5.. Still deciding on SB or LPB nitro though

You sir have done exactly what I wish I could do. I would order an LG5 like Kirks (olympic white with binding) and and LM5 too!
I love the Purple P bass. I would have ordered something like that if I didn't feel I have to keep it respectable for the gigs I usually do.

Thanks for the heads up man.. Im 99% certain I will need/want at TB edition 5 string from Jimmy, as his standard is a bit too wide for me. Also, its a DN is board is it not? That board looks like ebony, so I only assume.

Such a tasty looking bass.. I have had dream about that thing! Out of interest, why are you moving it on? How did you find the dinky body and upper fret access?

Also, I need a bit of advice? What is the tinted nitro like on the necks? I have ordered regular nitro for the neck and headstock, as Im uncertain about how the tinted nitro looks when it thins out? Does it wear away to leave white spots under the tinted nitro? I like the idea of a vintage tinted headstock and neck because my bass will have a traditional look to it... Any advice would be great.

I like the dinky alot.. It is closer in size to a sadowsky bass..
Im just moving on for my eternal quest to go lighter.. and jimmy just got some real lightweight alder in.. I also want to go to either Lake Placid Blue or his 60s SB again...

If you wear through the nitro the wood becomes darkened in the area worn through.. It is not easy to wear through... it took me about 5 years on my sig model kbp4 sonic blue bass (poudah).. If i get time later on, i will try to take a photo to post...

Ahh of course, Ive seen plenty of old basses with dark patches on the neck... Ive never owned a vintage fender so my knowledge is not exactly first hand.

For some reason I thought that the vintage tint nitro would wear away to leave white looking maple neck.. Silly I guess.
