Just a quick note to say the BSD crew caught up with Jimmy this afternoon in Sorrento Valley. It was a great hang and good to hear about the cool stuff going on at AC (check it out at the usual places). He's doing well and says hey to everyone here. George may weigh in later with a group photo.
I'm really liking the LG5 recorded.
I've gone for the 60's vibe Alder/Rosewood combo which is a design goal of Jimmy's if understand that correctly. In fact, I'm loving it.
And all I've done is change strings and lower the action via the bridge a touch.

I've noticed on gigs with the same amp set up...which I don't generally tweak because the tone of both basses is dialled way back...that the LG5 speaks consistently better than the LM5. Its got that vibtage 60's..which of course, is a design goal, and its nailed that.
The LM5 is 70's which is great too, but 60's is my current thing.
This wouldn't be a problem if I was only using the LM5 because I'd tweak the amp but I've come to realise this LG5 has that something extra. And I've been looking for it for some time..unsuccessfully.
I think I'm done looking for basses for a while...unless an RA5 comes up.

Found a picture of my old LG5. Boy do I miss it! Built in 08. It's the bass with a tort guard.
