Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 21)

Took my Dakota Red, matching headstock (early Fender-style design before Jimmy moved to the larger shape) LG4 #2 out to rehearsal tonight.

First time I've really played it at serious volume and it sounded wonderful. I've been mostly funk and soul bands for years and have just joined a more modern rock oriented group and the LG4 worked really well in this context.

It's currently wearing Seymour Duncan pickups and a John East pre-amp but I have some genuine AC pickups on the way and a Celinder/Greengrove pre-amp to fit so hopefully they'll really make it sing :)

Huh, first thing I thought when I caught that addison business was neither the possibility of a rotten bass from A-C nor of photo editing, but fedex/ups/dhl related- "some driver decided to simultaneously send off his first try at building basses and pick himself up a prime example of what a bass should be. The olllld switcheroo.".

I don't like Coppolo's response, but I know that, in Coppolo's shoes, I likely would have come up with a worse response if I didn't have somebody close to me to stop me.

Having played my coworker's (well used) A-C five string five knob j, I don't care about Coppolo's poor pr skills- I know that someday- I will own one. I will own one.


Or two.

The only way that i can get that old fender bass sound without spending 15-20k on a real fender bass are with my Alleva's..
Ive tried... Ive had a pile of old fenders.. A few of them were stolen in the past couple of years.. Just becasue they are old didn't make them great. In fact many old fenders that i see at guitar shows are dogs..
My 62 and 65 P were gems.. And my alleva kbp4 hangs with them easily..
My L series LPB jazz that was stolen, It was another gem.. I searched a few years to find that one. But My LG4 hands with it too...

To the club.... I am selling my beautiful Harvest Gold LM5. Thread is up in the classifieds. Just FYI, since many of you have commented on this bass, and have heard all the clips I put up over the years.

Pretty much playing the P now, and really winding down my 40+ years of gigging at this point.

Totally. I've sold every vintage Fender I had except one. My allevas do it better and have B strings!
