Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 21)

Do any of you have Jimmy's pickups in another bass with a different preamp? Thoughts please? Thanks!

I once got a Set of AC JJ pickups into a fodera imperial.
IMHO, the magic of AC tone wasn't there.
It sounds a bit more raw and vintagey than the Duncan but it did no comparasion to a real jazz bass or no AC tone in that setting to me.
But I didn't have any chance to put them in a jazz bass for more direct and fair comparasion.
Hope this help.

Have a good weekend!

That's the one. It's a great bass. I shimmed the neck a hair since I got it and it plays lie a dream.

EDIT: Mitch, I didn't mean this as a negative reflection on you by an stretch! Just for the record!

As a matter of fact, I hope you have some more AC's to sell more!

I've shimmed every one of my ACs -- Mostly because I'm slightly neurotic about how I like the neck angle to feel! ;-)

Added comment.

I am starting to get interested in these basses and was wondering if any of the owners with 5 strings AC's string their basses low E to high C? Any issues doing this on an AC that was originally strung B-G? (other than neck adjustment. I.e. does the nut have to be changed?)

Anyone does this? Any sound clips?

Hi All,
I have the followings that I am planning to unload. PM me if anyone is interested:
1. Kahboom
2. kBP4 Pickup
3. kBp4 Flatwound Strings
4. AC 10' Cable

They went fast.... I was watching a used alleva bass on sale in EU.... A late NYC one went for almost 10 grand.... Seems to be teh only bass that retains its value after you bought it. Or go up in value.. freaking crazy... .My LG5 LPB is an arm and a leg right now.. I want to buy it back but its out of my range

Hi everybody

I am looking for a 4-string Alleva Jazz . I have a superb RA and I would like to add another Alleva but with a rosewood fretboard. Serious cash offered or Fenders for trade: pre CBS or later 60'ies- early 70'ies P and Jazz basses.
Thanks for some help !

Good luck! See if this is what you after...

Wow. Didn't realize how much these things went up in price.
Well Im no authority but Ive seen a few nitro models with DN go for 6 grand at bass San Diego. I recently bought a KPB4 CS and I know how much i payed for that direct from Jimmy. The DN board is a huge expense (one I didn't opt for). And the cases aren't cheap either. They look super cool though. Can't get much cooler than purple lining.
