Likewise! Occasionally I think I could part with it, but then realise that I'd always be wishing I'd kept it.... forever. Ain't no money can replace that.

Hi guys, how are you? Dont happen too much to write myself on the TB forum...just really enjoying and prefer reading and surfing the forum almost everyday.
Well, the wait is almost over...roughly 10 days and my first Alleva will be delivered here in Roma. It's gonna be an LG5 Classic. Really excited about this new build (i actually own to Fbass VF4) and pretty scared about the 5th string, being most a 4 string guy....hope to get used to it as soon as possible.

Just to know...do somebody owns the Alleva pimp case? My distributor said tha Jimmy is out of those cases at the moment...Also asked for some tshirt and stickers...but same answer. Want to have the full Alleva experience!!!

I have had him make smaller sized bodies for me the past year... I think that the smaller size can be ordered.. My last KBP5 is slightly larger and i like it.. it balances better... its still lightweight at 8.4 pounds .
I was dead set against the bigger bodies for a really long time... Now, they have really grown on me.
I think Jimmy told me at the time that he thought that given that his pups are longer, and 5 strings have a bigger neck pocket that he wanted to make the body seem more in proportion to those things and maybe other things I can't remember. He wanted the 5 to look like a 4 I believe. The headstock was slightly redesigned also at the same time. To make the overall mass closer between the two versions he thinned out the bodies slightly on the newer one.

With the bigger bodies we're talking just the 5 string instruments, the 4's are regular Fender sized bodies. The early 5's from the NYC shop were patterned on Fender 5 string bodies and were smaller. The big bodies started with the LA shop and this was done to be in correct proportion to the wider 5 string necks. I have a NYC KBP4 and an LA KBP5 and they are so right.
I just put a new set of LaBella Low Tension Flats on the KBP5 and they are great, they seem just right for that instrument, they seem every bit as good as the TI flats at about half the cost.

On average the Indo sounds the mellowest to my ear. It feels broken in right away. DN and CNL feel very similar and sound accordingly, but CNL might have a shade more natural snap on average. But it's honestly kinda splitting hairs. DN has that smell when you work it, and the "spiderweb" grain you sometimes find is unbelievable--semi cocobolo-ish. But you could find jet black pieces of DN and CNL and I'd be hard pressed to call which was which.
Given the choice, I’d pick the DN board — if for no other reason than authenticity. DN plus nitro is a pretty awesome combination on AC’s.
Dude....it's gettin tough. I only know the bass has been shipped to the italian distributor...he told me (two weeks ago) "man...the wait is over, 4/5 days the bass will be here." In the meantime, no photo, update on working progress..nothing. I also wrote to Jimmy to have some infos and pics and to ask him to add a tshirt and some stickers in the gig bag... but nada de nada. Im pretty sure i'm gonna love this bass, but cmon...a little bit more of communication would be appreciated (Both the the distributor and Jimmy)
A year ago, i was waiting for my Fbass to be completed....Marcel was sending me update on the build, not that often, but once in awile. Thanks to that i saw they did a matching headstock that i didn't wanted to have. Bingo...they clean up the headstock...problem solved.

Jimmy is one guy doing the whole thing there at the shop. Making bodies, making necks . winding pickups, magnetizing them. making pickguard and pickup covers, overseeing the bridges being made next door in the metal shop, Not including the final assembly, set up, nut cuts and wiring and packing up to ship.. It may be sad to say but Email may be low on his list of priorities right now..
