Club Alleva Coppolo (part 3)

Like, wow!

First impressions: This is an insanely nice Fender. The G and D strings are so fat! I love the radius. The finish looks great. It sounds very good. Tommixx is right, I have never played a more even 5 string. The B string sounds like an extension of the E string. Not all super huge or anything, and it has good definition. The neck finish is glossy sorta, but it isn't sticky or anything. No funky smells! The gigbag is a bit meh. I was expecting a bit more in that department. No tools in the gigbag, no case candy etc. Not that it needs it or anything, but might be a nice touch. Like the nice wrench I got with my Sadowsky. Overall very pleased with what I am feeling, hearing, and seeing. I am pretty sure I can bond with this instrument. I am playing at Church this weekend :)

Does that mean you made it home after your LONG day
and the the box was sitting there waiting for you to open
and when you did there was a gig bag in the box
and you opened the bag and took the bass out and
pick it up and played a note or two and tuned it up and
plugged in you your amp and... Like , wow. :hyper::D:D:D

Like, wow..that was a long sentence. ;)

Yeah I figured that was mean, so I edited my post with pics and impressions. Granted I've only played it for about 45 minutes!

One thing I will note, this is the first volume/volume setup I have ever had. It'll take me a bit to get use to that, but so far I like it.

I was just messin with ya. I agree with your first impressions.
The gig bag could have more padding. I found a nice
angle screwdriver at Home Depot that works great.
The vol/vol took a little getting used to but now
I would not want a vol/pan on my A-C.
Anyway...have fun tonight! :bassist:

Very cool! Yeah, Jimmy is a little thin on case candy (well, actually there is no case candy). That's a small price to pay though. And yeah, the G and D string are what really hit me when I first played mine. At first, it almost seems that the E and B are a little underwhelming versus the G and D, but then you realize that it's actually a more even voicing that, as you say, results in a very usable low end, especially the B string (versus the BIG B that some basses give you).

I think you will really dig it in a mi. Beautiful instrument!

Hey everyone!

I apologize for not having pics yet. I only have my iPhone to take pics with right now and the only way to take respectable pics with it is during the day. I'll take some tomorrow and post them for sure.

My initial impressions are just amazing. I've never played an instrument that felt as complete and designed with a singular goal in mind like this one. The tone is absolutely to die for. Just an absolutely incredible instrument that I'm learning more and more about every minute. It's all about tone with this bass. It really is.

I'll report back with pics and more observations very soon.

Cool! Nice to get a bass after such a long wait and really dig it right off the bat. Usually I have a moment of "hrm should I have bought this" but not this time!

Thanks for the compliment on the bass. The rosewood on this thing is the nicest I have ever seen in person. Really impressive for "standard" rosewood. I'll take some day light shots tomorrow as well.

That's great news, guys..........glad to hear we are all in love with our basses........Sean, I would think the strings on your bass are Jimmy's own A-C Reds (Nickel)...........could be wrong, could be Blues (Steel), but from what I recall us talking about awhile back, that's what he was talking about using for the LGs (I know that's what he recommended to me for mine).....He should be dropping by the thread soon.....They are nice and warm sounding and last quite a while......Honestly, y'all are in for a treat.......His basses have grown on me incredibly, especially the RA-5, which saw some action tonight in Baltimore (went through the house PA and sounded amazing). I love that bass so much..........I feel so fortunate to have both of them....Anyway, I can't imagine them doing anything but growing on you just as much......soon, you too will say....MY BASS IS MAGIC....

My name's Jonathan, I'm down in Middletown. Glad to know there's another person in RI that is aware of Jimmy's work. I'm blessed to have a 5 string Limited myself. If you're interested, the bass and I will be playing at the 133 Club in East Providence Thursday night with Rory and the Hounds.
