Man I think you may have outdone yourself when you made that last LG with the Dalbergia... And the flats make it look serious!

I took a few pics of my basses today. Here is a couple of
"bad" pics of my LM-5. The BA bridge is BIG but I actually
like it now.:)
BTW... Jimmy, thanks for the quick fix you did on my bass!!

This was a NAMM bass...
The control knobs are Leopard Shell. I wanted the standard black knobs. But
when I got the bass I thought the Leopard knobs were kinda cool.
So...my LM-5 is kind of different...with the BA bridge and the knobs.
And its a Northern Ash LM-5 with an Indian Rosewood Fretboard. I LOVE this bass!!

FINALLY got to play the KPB-5 with a band! It sounded SOOO.. good - sat in the mix perfectly - punchy, warm... everything I wanted! The thing that really sets this apart is the responsiveness to my playing - something I have not found in a P-bass type before.

Nice! Those new Fender P 5's look pretty sweet also.

+1 to your comments. I really, really like my two Sadowsky's, and since my NYC MV5 is very new, I've been playing it almost non-stop for the last month.

But, when I get the Alleva LM5 out, it's like 'aaaaahhhhh', THAT'S what a boutique J sound really sound like (and 'feel like'). Just amazing.

We recently did a very small GTG at my house with a bunch of different basses, and once the LM5 came out (along with an old 70's Fender P), that was the 'end of the game':D

Wonderful, wonderful instruments.

I was thinking about picking up one of those highly discussed '08 Fender P5s myself...... that RA-5
is lookin' good.............It seems that Ice Blue is definitley the "it" color.....I've been seriously debating on whether to go ahead with the plans that I have for an LM, but at the same time, it kinda seems like they are close enough in character that the RA-5 is "70's J" enough to be enough for me..........When I think of '70s Js, I think Ash/Maple more than any other combo , hardly ever Alder/Maple.......now that's pretty much all I think about and try to listen for the difference in old recordings....any of you guys know of any notable players that used Alder/Maple 70s Js as a primary bass (and before all of you shout Geddy Lee, I am referring to the R&B/Funk/Soul movement of the 70s)....?

Here's last weeks batch (except the lay-a-way silver fretless). Would have been more but I was still looking for a place to live. Think I finally found the perfect spot... don't want to say too much yet till the deal is closed. Any way enough of me and back to basses. The first bass, standard 4 (or what some of you refer to as LG4) is Ice Tea burst. It's hard to make out in the photo's but the edge of the burst is not as dark as usual and the overall burst blends a little more. Personally I'm a fan of this color but it's more associated with early Gibson 335 guitars (from the late '50's to very early '60's) and not basses. Young Kim who purchased it really liked it and I am considering offering it as another color option. What do you guys think? to all other owners of completed basses in this photo, you know who you are- basses are all boxed up and ready to ship Monday-thank you all again.

I like that ice tea burst. The transition to the dark edges is pretty. I say go for it.

BTW, if the owner of that Oly White ever wants to sell or trade for my kidney, I'm game.

Hey Ace,
Right off the top of my head Francisco Centano used his black block (that Roger refinned in black lacquer) alder body '72 most if not all of his sessions during the mid part of the '70's thru early part of '80's. They called him Disco Cisco, he was on just about everything back then. You can here him use the bass on hits by Ashford & Simpson, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack. I could have bought that bass a few times but he always changed his mind. He should keep it, after all it's a hit maker. Let's see Family man had a sunburst black block that I believe had an alder body...Man I'm tired and going blank... guess I gotta break out my collection of old school Jamz. Actually the RA in RA5 & RA4 was influenced by a certain player "Kirk & Bigg Redd keep your mouths shut please" :)who had a black block but shortly after modded it. I can't tell ya but if you give it enough thought you'll figure out the players name... and he's friggin great. Too bad I can't tell ya :hiding: If or when I can think of more I'll repost. I'm sure though by then other TB-ers will have listed every player who used a black block alder body, what color it was, what strings they used, what amp, what track, maybe even describe what they were thinking too :D. Cool question, answering could be a lot of fun. Talk to ya soon.

Those pics are very drool worthy! I like the T-burst because it looks like the black is thinner and there is a thicker band of red, which works for me. All those colors look great...us AC users sure do have great taste. =D
What crazy SOB ordered the Burgundy Mist/Mint combo? Brilliant!

Sidenote: I hope you can seal the deal on that place.

Hey Jimmy..........this new batch looks great,especially that aged white.......man, you've got some great painters.........BTW, I know exactly who influenced the RA basses (and yes, he was a bad boy too)......my lips are sealed,bro...give me a holler if that fretless stays on lay-away a littlte TOO long....:D.......Good luck with the new place.....

I agree on the ice tea burst. I love that old 335 color and it would be cool to have an A-C bass in that same color.

I believe the Oly White LG-5 is mine. I'm expecting to have it in my hands on Thursday. Am I excited? Naah. Thanks for the offer of the kidney, but I've got a couple of those already, and I don't have any A-C basses yet. I've actually been gassing on the orange bass in the photo, myself, not to mention a couple of those ice blue (and Dan's blue) items that have been showing up here recently.

So do I get my number now? Oh, sorry, wrong thread for that. I look forward to blathering on about the LG-5 as soon as I play it a bit. I've got a gig on Friday. I'm not excited at all.
