Thanks. It really is something. It's one of those basses that gets the 'whoa' comment when it comes out of the case at GTG's.

Jimmy really does have something going with these basses IMO, and they continue to be the 'last basses standing' at recent GTG's, especially in 'old J Bass land' Detroit where I live.

It's an honor for me to hear my basses played by some of these scary cats up here!

Well, it sorta' still does me tho... I forgot to add another twist. A while back I tried "something different" from another brand of bass which I'm also a big fan boy of. That didn't last long at all. Just didn't do anything for me. I was starting to think I had no tolerance for "variety", which was actually kinda' disappointing.

Anyway, happily, I've found at least two "something differents" that really do it for me, and even better, I finally have something I really dig in my stable that truly covers the vintage J tone... even (at least to an unusually high degree) with the preamp engaged. I LOVE it. :)

I have a Badass on my LM5. I LOVE it, doesn't feel bulky to me, doesn't keep me from changing strings quickly, feels natural on my bass. I personally enjoy the way it looks and feels. I get the tones I expect out of the bass, and never have to adjust the bridge. I wouldn't put anything else on my LM5!!

I've tried out that particular LM5 before and I'll tell you, it's a world of difference between that one and mine. You may have dug the LM a little more if you would have tried mine out first. IMHO, it sounds and feels much better than the LM5 you tried.

Actually, he says that he plays both of them a lot. He told me today that the 78 jazz has that SOUND but that his LM5 gets very close to that sound, too, while having that "nu skool" feel.

I hear ya.....last I spoke to him, he had just got the '78 and he sounded like he was in love.....when I get back home, I'll have to go see him do his thing with his ten million basses. (LOL I'm just kidding, Walter if you are reading this!)..........
