Good Lord, that's unreal (photoshop?) work! Could you do that in Plum Crazy (like a 1970 Barracuda) with a black PG and blocks, and also with a pearloid PG and blocks? PLEEEEEEEASE?

I grew up in the south end but I was bussed into southie for school. I was the only white, Welch/Irish being brought into the Irish neighborhood. That lasted until junior high where I lived in Brighton and went to a Brookline school. Then CM for high school.

Castle Island is one of my favorite places in the whole world. Going there is food for the soul for me.Learned to ride a bike there,skateboard,caught my first fish,had my first kiss...

I used to go there in the middle of a summer nights with bicycle friends and lift the bike onto the the elevated oval out on the middle of the walk around and ride them up there.

Man, it really is a small world. Castle Island is the balls, especially hitting it up during the Summer for some Sullys. I've also had some pretty fun times over there. Cool to have another Boston dude on this fantastic forum.

I was also pretty close to Castle Island being a BC High kid, which you might find somewhat intimidating considering we always whooped CM in hockey :spit:. Although it certainly wasn't my favorite school, so many South Shore kids. Luckily all my buddies were right across the tracks.

I got an email back from Jason. What a nice guy, and helpful with some info about the LM5.

Good morning and Merry Christmas to all members of the "Famiglia", and fellow Jimmy Strings disciples. Hope everyone is headed for a great day, and maybe some of you have cool Christmas bass activities or toys to share. When not being inundated with in-laws through the course of the day, I plan on sitting down with my new Reddi just to see what sounds I can coax form the LG and RA before heading out tomorrow to the annual Boxing day Jazz Hoedown with some pals. :bassist:

Of course, those of you lucky ones who took delivery of a bass in the last day or so need to post the obligatory "Xmas Bass" pics, so the rest of us can drool and feel envy. :eek:

Those Jamerson Labellas have been on your KPB5 since nearly day one. I ordered them the day Jimmy shipped the bass, and put them on less than a week after it's arrival. Apart from being installed though, they were pretty much unplayed when I sold the bass to The Butler. I'm not sure what he and Bernie did with the strings after, but they seem to have made it through to you.

All the confusion about my thoughts on flats is very clear now. The strings on my KBP5 are not the Jamerson set. I just strung up my LG5 with the Jamerson set. Now I've got to figure out what is on mt KBP5, they have red wrapping at the top, the Jamerson set has blue wrapping. If I remember correct the TI Jazz flats have no winding or is it red.

So anyway you may have put a Jamerson set on when you got the bass from Jimmy and someone in between put a different set of strings on or maybe you didn't put Jamerson's on there?

If I had to guess these might be TI Jazz flats?

PS - More on the Jamerson set on the LG5 later, so far I'm not a big fan...

TI sounds close.. with Red... although some Rotosounds have Red too . I just never like the tension of Roto flats... but you can get that Money by Pink Floyd tone.:)

... I had Chromes on my kbp5 then went to some Alleva RW prototype strings... When these are done with im going to try some TI flats..

I never dug the Jamerson set... just too fat a string and the tension... I feel like i have to max my truss rod to get any resemblance of comfy action..

Did a gig with the P5 and Rounds last night and it just slammed.. the key to making a P sound great is just really digging in.. The aggressiveness is not to be reckoned with..:smug:

Look what I just got myself for Christmas--LM5 with cherry burst finish, mint condition, hipshot bridge. Local craigslist deal that I could not pass up... Bass is darker than photos suggest; really pretty bass.

Couple of questions--should I add a pickguard? If so, what color? Do I *need* to add passive tone control? I have it on my AC4, but not sure if it's absolutely needed on an LM5, which I want mostly for sizzle.

1) Wow; killin' bass!
2) I loooooove the passive tone. In many cases, I boost active treble some, and cut passive tone, and this gets a beautiful amount of top end, while knocking off some of that string/fret/fingernoise I don't like.

Not sure how one would best execute that in this case... change from vol/vol to vol/blend stacked, and the added passive tone?
