Thanks for the pics ricksy - well done. Jimmy mentioned that he was going to do a passive bass for the show; looks like the green LG4 is the one. Did anyone play the red RA4? I think that's Mitch's bass... and it looks killer.

I see three Passive four's all have control plates. The green and the walnut have VVT and the sunburst has stack knobs with grounding strip.

Every bass with a control plate is passive...
Yeah, that's Bobby Vega's bass (I'll be posting a vid of him playing it too)... built specifically to his specs to be a '61 J with the faithful stacked knob config. Tom and I both played it and the mojo is TOTALLY there. He nailed that one perfectly.
Vega's on board with the AC?. I hope that works out. I absolutely LOVE that guys pocket, the best.

The Olympic White RA is Ruben Rodriguez's new bass, I was lucky enough to get his old one. If you look closely the pickguard is cut
differently, because he had Jimmy widen up the lower cutaway for
easier access to the higher frets.

Nice...Man that bass just looks GREAT! Do you know if that's a nitro finished oly white or if it's poly?
Ah yes, there they are. I wasn't looking carefully at the controls on the walnut basses, I was knocked out by the wood - missed the ground strip on the sunburst first time around, too. Mind you, I was kinda looking for through the shots for something else...
I actually prefer 18mm, best of both worlds if you ask me. The 17.5mm of the Stingrays are cramped to me, but 19mm is almost too excessive. On the LG, I don't notice at all -- maybe something to do with the fingerboard radius. My Ken Smith BSR5JMW is just perfect for my personal preference.
If I was 'king of the luthier world' and all powerful, I would decree the following:
1) No bass will be made, for any reason, by any luthier, without the Music Man/Sadowsky truss rod adjustment wheel design
2) No bass (edit: with an on-board preamp) will be made, for any reason, by any luthier, that does not have some sort of separate, easy access, battery compartment.
3) No bass will be made, for any reason, by any luthier, that does not ship with Duncan dual action straplocks.
So let it be written, so let it be done
Don't forget quick release bridge!
