Also, I believe the Metros help the resale value of used NYCs. Presumably, the NF line will help keep the price of the other Alleva Coppolo used models from dipping to low.

Hmmm... we all knew the NF series was coming, so I'm not sure that's the big news. I think Jimmy's making a new DN5 bass. That's right - the whole thing is going to be Dalbergia Negra!

DN body, DN neck, DN fingerboard, DN control knobs, DN pickup covers, no machine heads - DN tuning pegs and fine tuners mounted on a DN bridge. I bet he'll even offer DN frets, blocks, and binding. The bass will cost $437,699.95, and will come in a DN case.

That's what I think he's working on. :ninja:

I heard that also. I believe he uses a technique similar to those guys who do ice sculptures. He just took a chainsaw and carved a whole bass out the remaining portion of the DN log he mentions in that interview posted above.:D

He said he'd give me a 10% discount as a returning customer, so if my house sells, I'm in. I have it listed in the 'Misc' section of the classifieds if anyone is interested.

OK... back to the real Alleva stuff. I would guess we will have some pictures from the booth within a few hours.

I remember seeing the pictures the first time from NAMM last year (or the year before... I can't remember). I hadn't really heard of the brand, and I had the same reaction many others had... 'wow', and then 'who is this guy':D I bet there will be some VERY cool instruments at the booth this year!

You're close. The REAL reason Jimmy moved to California was so he could be closer to Apple and license their new manufacturing technology. Now, instead of building a bass out of several different components, Alleva Coppolo has the capability of stamping an entire product out of a single brick of aluminum.

Not only will the new one piece aluminum basses never require truss rod adjustments, but they will keep your food fresh for days. :p

I wouldn't be disappointed if Jimmy decided to raise his prices and just focus on making his current line up even better.

Man, you haven't been keeping up with this thread at all......Jimmy uses brass. With the help of NASA (you know, the NASA that used to send ships to space) he's developed a new light weight brass. It's of a similar weight to aluminum (which is why I can understand your confusion) but it carries the tonal benefits of brass. Smart guy that Jimmy.

Andrew's earlier post was a big help, but I am still trying to wrap my mind around the various Alleva Coppolo models, and their differences.

Is this correct?
