Jimmy eluded to this in an earlier post. I wonder if this is the only announcement for the show? I thinking there must be more than that since he already talked about these..

I must have missed that. Could be something else then... however launching an entire line to me is bigger than launching a single model.

Well here is what we have from Jimmy posted late December..

Hi Dave,
Well unfortunately the cost on the models that are available now will be increasing a little bit some time this January. However I am planning on offering a slightly less expensive "No Frills" (for a lack of a better term) model, that just maybe more affordable to players on a tighter budget. The prototype will be exhibited at the January '09 NAMM show... and yes for those of you out there guessing the model name it will be the NF5. Specs. and pricing TBA.

Glad you threw it out there b/c I was thinking it. This news would be more exciting to more people than something else that might be cool as hell but not gonna be attainable for many folks.

Sorry to break the news guys, but the last I heard, the NF5 will not be ready for NAMM as Jimmy hoped that it would be. I'm on my way to the shop now & if something has changed, I'll chime in later, but I think it's safe to say that it won't be debuting tomorrow.

Jimmy heard about the posts inquiring about the more affordable A-C & is busting his ass to have it ready for the show. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to say it, but there was a problem with the paint job.(A satin finish) Mas Hino is here helping Jimmy by buffing the hell out of the body to correct the problem. Glad I stopped bye to get the update. Look for it on Fri or Sat.

Wow, Jimmy and Mas...two of the great luthiers who really know a thing or two about vintage instruments and create their respective instruments that pay homage to the original design...working together side by side. That's just beautiful, man.

I guess I shouldn't 'tell', but what the heck. It is my understanding that Jimmy is introducing a new line of 'vintage' boutique basses based on the amazing Gibson Ripper and Grabber basses of the mid 70's. Options will include maple boards that were cut between one week and one day ago, and custom electronics that, based on comments from the few who have played the prototypes, sound 'just as amazingly bad as the originals'.
