I got mine!!

:hyper:

Believe the hype...This is the first bass I have ever had that I did not lower the bass side PUPS a bit after the first 5 minutes had it plugged into an amp...The string to string balance is perfect! I just did a 3 hour rehearsal and MAN what a bass! I got Big String's NYC Sadowsky Inca Silver PJ4 today and played it as well...I am pretty sure the NYC Sadowsky will be for sale in the classifieds here real soon as I did not expect to get this one until about February...:) The Sadowsky is a GREAT Bass but I have a Black on Black Metro MV5 coming next week that will match perfectly with the LG5!!!!!! I really can't see myself needing anything else for awhile. The LG5 is the bomb and will probably get most of my playing time. Talk about a versatile bass, WOW! Now I know why you never see one of these for sale!! If you EVER come across one BUY IT!!! You won't be sorry!!

More to come!

THANK YOU KIRK POWERS!!!!

I really appreciate you turning me on to Jimmy!!! Best purchase I have made in a good while bro!!

Pics to come later on tonight!!

:hyper:

Peace,

T

sweet man! those pics will help as i wait for mine. also iirc i think it takes about a week for the pickguards to get cut...i am sure you will get it soon

i think your LG-5 and Tommixx's LG-5 should look like twins

Hey Guys,
Since Will asked, I thought I would let ya'll know that that I talked to Marco a couple days ago and he said my LG5 was sent out via UPS yesterday (Tuesday). Since I live in Maryland, he was thinking it would arrive by Friday.
Also, the shop was all out of tort. guards, so the pickguard holes are drilled but the bass will not be shipping with it. I get the feeling with BP Live coming up and 18 bodies back from paint this week, that the pickguards are going towards the show. I guess we'll have to wait and see if there are any tort guards on the BP basses!

I'll have some pics going asap, and a review as soon as I get some serious playing time on it.

Cheers,
Matt

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! congrats man! I am glad you like it;)

They really don't do her justice, especially the Honduran Rosewood board it is beautiful! I was a little worried that I had to give up the Dalbergia but I don't regret it a bit! I don't see this leaving me anytime soon! She is a total blast to play and sounds phenomenal! Enjoy!

I really believe in Jimmy and what he is doing .. i think it is special and unique.. and he lives and breathes it.. its not just a job to him.

NOT at all!! The priveledge is mine! I could not agree more...Jimmy has been a total prince everytime I have spoken to him! He really is doing some phenomenal work!! This is bass number 73 and I can't imagine it being any better than it is...Everything about it is absolutely flawless...EXCEPT....about 5 mintues out of the case I called the shop and Jimmy answered. I told him that the bass was off da chain and I had not even plugged into an amp yet! LOL! I told him the only thing wrong with her was that with that deep a reddish tint on the Rosewood I HAD to have him make me a TORT guard for her...He said that they should have some more in about 2 weeks or so...It wil be worth the wait, The bass is beautiful as is but the Tort will absolutely set her off! I wish I could get a good picture of the neck so you can see how lovely the Honduran Rosewood is!!

I have already decided to sell the Sadowsky PJ for sure, I just bought about $40K worth of recording gear (to replace some of the stuff I lost in the fire) and I wasn't expecting to get this AC for a while...I just can't let well enough alone!! LOL! This will perfectly contrast the Black on Black Sadowsky MV5 I should have by mid week next week! I TRULY believe with these 2 I will be set for a while...I hate to say it...but I am pretty GAS free right now!

:hyper:

Happy with my EA rig, Happy with my basses, got the recording gear I need (and more coming)...Life is good!! Hope you have a great Birthday! Thanks again and God Bless!

BTW- I have been trying to change my Avatar for an hour and I can't get the thing to take the file..EVEN when I get it below 115X115 it still says file too big! I have also gotten it down to 15K AND smaller than 115X115 and it STILL says file is too big...What gives???

Peace,

T

Beautiful bass!!!! I am loving mine more and more each day. Interesting on your comment about the bass side of the pickups. Since so many basses are voiced huge on the E and B, I actually felt my Alleva was a little 'polite' deep down low (I believe I called it some low end compression in my initial review). However, after playing a ton of gigs with it, I realize now that it is wonderfully balanced and even, versus 'overhyped' down low. I dig it!

Enjoy!!!!

Beautiful Bass Tom! Thank you for posting and confirming my belief that Honduran Rosewood makes an awesome FB. I chose it because Jimmy said it could be really, really red, and that's what I asked for...super red board w/ tort.

Also, it's nice to hear you say the volume is even across all strings, since there has been some speculation from people.

And finally, you are the first person to post pics that include the gig bag that comes with the bass! It looks nice and padded. =D

Thanks guys...I couldn't wait to get up and play her this AM! I keep wondering if this smile will become permanent!! It really is impossible to tell just how beautiful the Honduran is in the pics...This is the richest looking red I have ever seen on a Fretboard. A Tort is really going to bring it out that much more I think. Don't hesitate to get one of these if you are leaning in that direction, it is ALL THAT!! I think Jimmy is at the top of his game right now and I told him yesterday on the phone that he definitely had a VERY bright future in front of him. The interesting thing for me is that when I got my first Sadowsky I couldn't wait to get my next one!! But with this AC I initially thought wow it would be so cool to have an LS5 (with a maple board) but the more I play it, the more I think Why the hell would I need another one? A backup I can see, but I have to admit this one is next to impossible to put down!!

:help:

I have the MV5 coming but at this point I don't see myself needing anything else at all...The pre is very subtle and totally unobtrusive to the sound. I totally agree with Ken that it just enhances what is already there and is probably TOTALLY unnecessary (at least for me) the bass with the pre set at minimum is how I have been playing it and I add just a touch of bass boost when I slap (as does Ken) to give me just a little more meat on the thumb!! the PUPS are FABULOUS!!

ALL the magnets are even with PUP surface and the string to string balance is the BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN OR HEARD ON A BASS!! Period...I have not done a thing to this bass except put on a set of the newer Dunlops. It is flawless right out of the case...Speaking of the case, the case in the pics is actually my Sadowsky Portabag (best there is IMO) The bag thatt came with the AC is a VERY nice light duty bag and I would not hesitate to use it around town while the bass was in my care but it is not a heavy duty bag or case as is the Sadowsky...

More to come after I gig her!

Peace,

T

Congrats! That's a great feeling. I've felt the same way about my Lakland Jo for the last 3 years or so now. If it's the real deal the feeling will last a long time. In my case I actually included a special no sale claus for my bass in my will....

BTW this was originally Big Strings bass, thanks man....

This silver comet was mine for a spell, and before that it belonged to Whynot Jansfeld from Gavin DeGraws band. I really loved this bass, but I came on the need for some cash and I honestly didnt play it as much as i did my custom shop next to it. I regret selling it but am planning on getting another someday. And to be honest, i know its a difference of opinion but Im not at all a fan of the new knob curve on the LG5's, just dosent look balanced to me IMHO. Anyway, just thought Id post her as she wasnt on this board yet. For those who want to know she;s in texas now as far as I know.
