So I've used the new fretless in a few rehearsals, sounds fantastic. This is the first bass I have ever used (ever) that has a great bridge pickup tone in my hands. Still retains the all important fffffffffatness that usually falls by the wayside too much for me, so I think I'll rename these pickups Fffffffffffat Stacks instead.

Oh yeah and last night I made this little ditty to my dead fish:

Sweet fretless nad. I'm really digging the tone of it. What's the effect at the end?

Holy poop! I didn't realize there was a new IE pedal in existence...

Taylor makes awesome stuff. Beyond awesome really, perhaps I should check this one out as well.

I did a little recording at my friend's house today.
It is all on one track separated by a pause between each clip, but I tried to show the different sounds of the Audere Z mode.

The bass is my 5 String Fretless CB bass, chambered option, which makes the bass sound much different from the other CB basses I have had.
1st clip - Z mode in Mid position
2nd clip - Z mode in High position
3rd clip - Z mode in Low position
4th clip - Z mode in Low position

Pickup blend was in the middle, with a little bass and treble added. Mid was set flat.

By the way, I'm not much of a bass player so it's just me messing around with some warm up stuff. I got another clip I'll try to post later.

Decided to have some lines added to my new (to me) 6'er fretless CB. Almost done. Lines are maple, and the luthier doing the work is Brady Muckleroy from the Austin area. Can't wait to get it back! Here's some pics of the progress:

I can dig it. :cool: What are the pickups in that one? I've probably seen pictures, just can't recall at ze moment.

Thanks, here is what I had typed up from my review of the bass:

I asked Cliff to have Kent Armstrong make me a quad coil pickup, but Kent Armstrong didn't offer one. So Mr. Armstrong took two quad coil pickups and tied them together. The pickup sounds as huge as it looks paired with the Audere Z mode preamp.

Because the bass is chambered, it sounds so much different from all the other CB's I have had. Not sure if the recording captured the sound well enough.

I guess the reason why I liked this idea better was it looks a little cleaner and simple. I don't won't anything taking away from the Tulipwood top.

Plus, I never asked for anything like this. Cliff just knows that I like cool ideas during the build.

Here is what Cliff had sent me about the idea:
"It would take about 5 to swap it’s location when your changing the strings.

So your options would be something like this:

Both on the outside = P and piano like bridge
Both in the back = Burpy bridge growl
Both up front = Super MM character"
