Do you think 36" scale is too much for you? I took the risk and I had never played one but now it feels just great and I love that little "fattier" and "larger" sound. It is maybe not so "cutting" but I love it. Of course it could be different with fretted bass. I really don't know and these are just my thoughts. Happy waiting and I must do some lottery to have that Rami-bass. :hiding:

I do want a larger scale than the two CB's that I already have with a 35" scale, but I would like this bass to match. I do have plans to order another 4 stringer sometime next year with a 37" scale. I've played a CT with a 37" scale and I loved it! I just know that I will gig a lot with this new bass and my 6 string fretless together, so I want them to match. I kinda want to keep them the same.
How do you like the balance of the body shape of that bass you ordered? I've never played one like that.

The balance is good with the strap. Of course lon neck make it little "neck-heavy" when I play it and sit but just a little. Still it wont turn the neck down or anything, it is very playable. I think this kind of balance is very typical for 6 strings with longer scale. I must say I still love this bass. It is my first 6 string and I found it very easy to get used to two more strings. This is very playable bass, actually the easiest I have ever tried. :bassist:

I believe Martin Petersen made one once. I remember it being at the Gallery the first few times I went down. Lots of wenge and walnut. Huuuuuge....


I have to get one of Cliff's basses, they look fabulous (I did email him recently sounding out costs). David's amboina 6 looks amazing. When my 4001Cs goes I may have to look very seriously at a deposit...assuming I can get out of the Gallery without ordering another Sei bass first!

I am really not sure when Cliff will begin building it, I just know that it will be November, or at the very latest December, when I get it. I would guess that it will be in the next batch, since he has already started purchasing the parts/supplies/electronics for it. Again, this is all speculation, so don't quote me on any of this. I am just really excited to see how this bass turns out.:hyper:

Just wanted to bump the thread and let everyone know that Cliff posted some soundclips I recorded with my new bass. The clips and a picture I took of the bass are up on his new page.
Also, I will be heading into the studio in two weeks to start work on my new cd. SHould be a blast and I am really looking forward to getting this bass into the studio to do some ensemble stuff.
I have some more clips of the bass that cliff didn't post so PM if you are interested in more.
Also, I will be trying to post a new youtube vid soon with my new CB.
I love this bass!!! :hyper:

Just played my Ball Bass at a wedding gig and it was brilliant. Some songs I was doubling up with rather tricky keyboard lines. With any other bass this would have been nigh on impossible but with my Bordwell anything's possible!

Well you get my meaning.

Right now it's looking like walnut body with a Bubinga top and possibly bubinga on the back. Lot's of choices at the moment though. It's early on.

I spend ALOT of time on his site drooling.

I also have to mention how helpful Cliff is with the process though. Highly recommended.

I have one in the current build! :hyper:

It's a 4 string Ball bass with Maple Burl top and back, and a Walnut core. The neck is Wenge with a bloodwood fingerboard and it will have an Audere preamp. Except for the preamp and the maple burl top, it's almost identical to the 5 string CB Bass I have (it has a black walnut burl top and an ODP-3 preamp).

Got lucky too... it was originally scheduled for the next build, but got moved up!
