Club Fbass (thread 12)

Hi there, with the departure of our drummer 6 months ago we stopped gigging until last night, where with our new drummer I had the chance to bring "Thor" to the stage, a rare FBass AC6 Fretted which was previously owned by Tom who graciously keeps this club growing stronger.
As it happens after a while not playing, there are a lot of misses here and there, and the sound is not ideal, but I feel the amazing harmonics this beast could cut through anything.

"Meridiane" is a Bossa/Jazzy/R&B/Bossa piece, and "El Mejillón" is a cuban-sounding salsa that builds finishing in a wave of mojo-cooking rhythm we have lots of fun playing. I hope you like them!

Regards,
Yeow! Thor is definitely in good hands!

What strings are you using again?

No consensus. I use R. Cocco steels and absolutely love them. Great feel, very responsive, long lasting.

Man, I just received a killer 5 string jazz bass to review, and beyond the fact that the bass smokes, the strings immediately stuck out as awesome feeling/playing. Turns out they're R.cocco. Wow. I had no idea how nice they were. Theyre gonna be my next string experiment on the VF5.

Thanks for the heads up, Jake.

Here's an interesting demo of them on an ash-maple bass.

I recently bought an Fbass BN5 Here on TB. It came to me with broken in La Bella super steps on it. It sounded great, I mean great. Well I tried to order some Fbass strings from Fretspot, but he was out. Instead I got some of his Fretspot strings, similar to both the Fbass and Super steps in that they are exposed core. So far the Fretspot strings sound a bit brighter and more aggressive than the super steps did. I can say that if you are looking for the same feel as the super steps, but want a brighter more aggressive tone, the Fretspot strings may be for you. I like them, but may continue experimenting with strings on this bass. I think I like the more mellow sound of the super steps.

My question is could you guys tell me the difference between the super steps and the Fbass strings? Is one more aggressive/brighter than the other?

I know, no pic no bass. Here's a lo-fi shot.

I received this BNF 5 on monday, and I just simply can't stop play it !

I bought it used from Donovan at Fretspot.
She get a check-up from Fbass before coming to me.

Once again, Donovan and Marcel at Fbass provided a first class sevice.
When you buy from a different and far country, you have to be confident in the people you buy from, and you can really trust Fbass and Fretspot.

So the bass is in excelent condition, fingerboard have been wooled and oiled.
I asked some more dots on the upper part of the fingerboard.

Super neck carve, so easy to play and a tone that I love.
What to want more ??
on other fretted :help:

The thing who surprise me is that you can have the Jaco sound and a very large range of other sounds in a few buttons check.

Tom7, I would be happy if you have a number in stock for me !

Beautiful BNF-5, asbs.

That looks like a Himalayan salt lamp up on the bookshelf, too. Nice - nothin' says cool better than some spacey fretless lines accompanied by salt lamp ions...oh yeah!

Cheers.

Thank you !
Yes it is an himalayan salt lamp on the bookshelf, suppose to be wealthy and bring positive ions.

Fbass build really special instruments.

I am moving from France to New Caledonia in 10 days.
This kind of move make you feel what is really important in your life, because you have to make choice beetwen what come with you or not, and this bnf5 is for sure an important part of me that will folow me as shadow.
You can feel that the Fbass team put them heart in this instrument.
You know, this is the difference beetwen a hand made and a industrial process....
