I've noticed the serial numbers are all so diff from bass to bass. Are the initials the person who does final inspection ? I've seen jp cl ap I think so far
Serial # includes the initials of the original buyer.
There’s only one person who does the final inspection.
His initials are inside the neck pocket. For me it’s akin to ordering a custom surfboard directly from a builder. There’s something special about having your name/initials written on the stringer of my surfboards, and on the headstock of my Moollon basses.
was talking with @MingusBass and I do love the bass but is it that much better than a p bass parts build? I think it probably is but is it 2k plus more? probably. he brought up that its just as good as a 60s p at a 3rd of the price. but also the best pb and j in the world is still a pb and j.
basically now I am Torn between enjoying a new and wonderful bass, and feeling excessive for spending that much on a p bass.

The best bass is the one that gets played because it doesn’t leave your mind. It doesn’t matter the cost of this siren or what others think. Hope this bass does that for you
I was unexpectedly fortunate and able to pick up this used but not abused P classic 5 string in Candy Apple Red and see what the hype is about...
The Thomastik jazz flats that came installed were quickly replaced with Labella Low Tension flats, a big improvement for my tone and feel preferences. Loving this bass so far but will probably try some DR Sunbeams or Dunlop SBN on here too as I always seem to return to medium gage nickel roundwounds... Has anyone else come to conclusions on rounds/flats for the P classic 5 stringers, or Moollons in general?

I think that CAR 5 is my old bass. What a great bass that one is. Enjoy

NYXLs 45/65/85/105/125 for me. Sounds incredible live and in studio.
A bit of foam under the bridge or palm muting if I need to to be more flat-ish. Of course not that's not the same as flats but for me a good trade off with being able to open up the sound with rounds on the same bass.
But... I'm sure that bass will sound great with any strings at all on it.

I put this gauge NYXL set on my Sandberg TM5 recently and am enjoying them. Brighter and tighter than my default Dunlop Super Bright Nickels 45-125 but thats what I was expecting too. Love the sound and feel of Labella flats but the versatility and power of rounds has always kept me coming back so far.

And I think it was my bass before that (Is TB on the headstock?). …a wonderful axe. I always kept FL’s on it with the tapered 128 B.
