Yes, Pure Blues are what YJ installs on the instruments himself as the stock roundwound option.
Dunlops 45-105. Neck and neck for TI's as my favorite flat and is my favorite flat on a P. Very musical and versatile with a strong, clear fundamental to the notes. There's others that work well but the Dunlops are great.

Love, love, love this bass, but it's been stuck at my tech for the last 10 weeks because of the lockdown. There is light at the end of the tunnel, though—I should be able to pick it up next week.
This beauty is proof that there aren't enough maple fingerboards being requested.

I'm glad to hear this. I put Chromes on my P-IV at first, they were ok. I put TI's on and WOW! I have no desire to try any other flats. Well, accept for the Dunlops that YJ uses. But reading your post makes me feel better about just enjoying these TI's in all their glory.
If the lower tension of the TI's work with a person's playing style there's really no better string out there(IMO of course). I wish I hadn't let those (spaghetti) tension claims scare me off em for so many years. Loved em immediately once I tried em. Dunlops are a close second for me with TI's. Maybe a little better lows out of the Dunlops and great sustain with a little higher output overall. More clarity from the TI's and a sweetness to the midrange that's unmatched. If the two could some how be married together it'd be the perfect string. I'd love to see Dunlop come out with a nickel version of their flatwound.

You should give LaBella Low Tension Flats a try then.
Hey Kenny, what gauge do you use for your low B? Got my B524 today and love it but I'm not immediately feeling the (low) tension in the B.
La bella low tension do a great job with the B string in any 5 string. I imagine its the same with Moollon.
I'm actually looking for more tension. Relatively new to 5s, but tend to like a taut feel.
i think if you want anything other than the stock DR Pure Blues 45-105 or Dunlop flats 45-105 you have to send them to the shop. They’ll install and set up for whatever you supply, is my understanding.
