24 fret 4 string, flame maple on ash. Dark cherry burst finish with black hardware. Standard body, maple fingerboard with a smaller neck radius and nut width. Humcancelling pickups and standard stainless steel strings. I think that's it... I might be forgetting something, but I don't think so. So excited! As I said in Part 26 of the club, I'm still at highschool and I've been working at McDonald's for two years to save up... ordering it was very exciting indeed :hyper:

Good for you! It's always good to work hard and save for something special.

I'll never forget the first "real" bass I bought. It was 1981, and I just finished 8th grade. I had saved my paper route money (from 2 paper routes) for a year to buy a new Fender Precision for something like $700 (probably paid too much, but it was a small town in the sticks with one music store - Schmitt Music, and I had no idea about trying to talk them down). Anyway, before buying it, my dad had me go to the bank (on my bicycle) and withdrawn the money from my savings account in $20's, and come back home. Then he had me sit down and count out the 20's one by one, and he told me to think about how many newspapers I had to deliver for each $20. When I got to the end, he said, "Now, do you still want to spend all that money on a bass?" I said "Yup", and the rest is history. I'll keep that bass until I die, or until one of my children decides to play bass.

Fran - nice work with Photoshop. That's a sweet bass! IMO, the black looks great. If you do nothing, the bass is perfect.

That said, the gold looks really cool against the vintage tint. Got me thinking of a gold pick guard for my MV5!

Feel the same about the Vintage 5 JJ. #3044, solid body. SC's, Ash/Maple. Been the #1 instrument for 13 yrs. It's showing some signs of use (650+ shows) w/ some checking and swirling and every five years or so I have to resolder that damned flip top battery box, haha (;) but the sound and playability are there EVERY time, like no other bass I've ever owned. I have never ever tired or become complacent about playing this bass. A "tip o' the hat" to the crew @ Sadowsky.

Go for the gold Fran! It'll be nice to have a new dress for your babe. BUT don't trash the black for a change of pace again down the road. The black Sad' buttons would sure look good on top of the gold guard also. You got yourself a real sweetheart there amigo.

The black guard gives a nice contrst to the top but there is a real "elegance" w/ that gold guard. A "no lose" situation.
