Here is some more with my Sadowsky NYC P Bass , we did this a couple nights ago , we play in our drummers furniture store concrete walls and concrete floor recorded just with the Zoom HD camera , tough room for sound , were working on all new songs now , sorry for the clams but were working thru them , im playing thru my Genz Benz streamliner 900 head and Bergintino HT-322 cab , another fun group of guys to play music with , we do get out and gig , were trying to get ready for the summer stuff here , were lucky to have a real cool music sene here in town Buck and the Diggs - YouTube

Here is a link to the current cover song that I need to work on this weekend. This is the first cut as I call it. My friend and I put our first recordings together and this is the initial recording. Nothing adjusted, etc.
I already know that I have "something on" in my software that I need to switch off - to get rid of the overdriven tone of my PJ5.
Now, I am welcoming your feedback either here or in a pm (doesn't matter) so I can nail this! LOL!

So, last night's gig started off pretty crap, with a totally uninterested audience that totally stymied our (usually effective) efforts at connecting with them. Then things gradually got better, until our last song got cut off by a drunken fool spiralling off the dance floor and sending our mic stands and beers squarely into the fiddler and guitarist, scratching instruments and soaking pedals. We're back there tonight. Hopefully our regulars will show up and make it a party.
I am going to be very worried about my brilliant new bass until I get my first scratch. Especially as the stage-falling event is actually a pretty common occurrence at our shows. Bass12 has played that stage pretty often, so I'm sure he's got some tales to tell as well.
I realise that a gigging bass is going to get dinged. Hellz, all of mine have scratches and such from gigs. I'm almost looking forward to that first scratch just so's I can relax about it.
How are you guys with gigging damage? Do you let it come as it may, or do you protect your goods all cost?

Let me get this straight. You spent YEARS saving for your dream bass & waited forever to get it & now you want to gig it at a place that has drunken idiots smashing your stage. Am I missing something here or could you perhaps find a more worthy gig or even a better crowd at that one to honour the best bass on the planet.
Every Sad' owner wants to gig their main squeeze but man, you gotta give the gig some serious priority assessment bro. A scratch or minor ding is one thing but -
Hey - I'm on your side with this. The next gig won't be your last but do you really wanna risk having to say that about the Sad' ? (I can't decide which smilie to use here.)

I gig my WL in dive bars nearly every weekend. In fact, I'll be gigging it in a dive bar in about an hour.
I bought it to play it. It has some player wear, but I've largely protected it from drunken buffoonery. I did accidentally put it into a ceiling fan on a gig during the first month or so I had it. It happens. Now it looks like a well-played bass, which is just what it is.
I suppose if I was thinking of ever selling it, I might feel differently, but I'm taking my WL to the grave if I can.
Soooo, uh... my bass is ready. I'll be sending my last payment this week, and then it'll be en route to Canada.

Kevin sent me this pic a few days ago and hopefully I'll be picking it up at the end of next week or the beginning of the following week... The neck has a Brazilian 21 fret board and matching headstock.. The color is a Copper Metallic that Pat Wilkens showed me while I was visiting his shop back in January.. It should also have a mint guard as well as the tort...

Lol! I get that. For me, an axe gets stage time or it gets sold, though. We're trying to work out a small tour out west for next year. The Sad will stay home from that because I know too many guys whose instros have gone walkabout while they were travelling. So, I don't wanna be stupid about it, but for the local scene, I'm going to want to make this axe work for the money I put into it. Not to mention the anticipation I've felt about gigging with it.
It's all good pal. It's just that I saw your journey to this bass as a real sacrifice for you. But how do ya not gig that baby right? It reminds me of the scene in "The Blues Brothers" where they played behind a chicken wire fence in front of the stage to catch the flying beer bottles.

That scene reminds me of a gig I played about 20 years ago. I was in a metal band at the time, and we were playing in a dive full of teased hair and skintight jeans. We were pumping away at some Maiden song or other, and some drunkard stood up with a half-full pitcher of beer in his hand and threw it at my head. I saw it coming and ducked. I felt pretty slick about that--right up to the point where said beer drenched my amp and cab.
Fortunately, we weren't the only band playing.
But the Sadowsky wouldn't see the inside of a bar like that, lemme tell you. There's no question. I was playing a big, black Gibby T-Bird at the time. Most of our gigs are relatively damage-free. But things do sometimes happen.
Hopefully fall of 2013. We'd like to start in Calgary or Edmonton, hit Banff and head west from there, through the Okanagan to Vancouver, then fly home out of Victoria. It's *really* questionable right now, though. There are a *lot* of ducks we have to line up in order to make it work.
Sharing is so cool no matter where we think were at , it is all about the love , moment , progress , fun , the love for the bass , your doing a great job and playing a great bass that sounds sweet , what more could a kid ask for , Life is good !So I went back to the recording board and found better settings for the PJ5 in my Studio One software. Sounds a ton better than last weeks recording....except for the less than perfect note playing!
So I though I'd share (again) the bass track for On the Wings of Rock and Roll.
