Club Sadowsky!!!

where was your phone in terms of proximity to the bass, and amp?
real close I bet.

it can be that speakers pick that up directly too. this happens at my edit station at work frequently, freaking clients out.

Interesting... yeah, usually it's in my pocket and I stand 6-10 feet in front of my amp. But again, I have it in "airplane" mode which should keep it from receiving those sorts of signals.

Also, again, this has never happened before... Just started when I got the Metro RV5 and GK 1001RB-ii

2 new additions at the same time means i can't quite troubleshoot as well.

I once experienced what you mentioned in a rehearsal, what the different on my setup is simply the amp that provided by rehearsal room, other than that, I'm using my NYC vintage 5 as usual, perhaps it's good way to start for troubleshooting?

My NYC Black Sparkle 24Frets JJ5 arrived last week! Nothing to say because you all in the club knew it's good.:hyper: The crappy iPhone 5 pics don't do this bass look justice... Best bass to pair with my NYC Vintage 5 Ash / Rosewood.

I just gigged with it on the same day I received it. After some minor action adjustment to my tastes, just feel like home.

Thanks again Roger and the crews making this fine instrument.

I don't favor sparkle nor maple boards, but that is one happening bass. And I always love a Sadowsky 5/24, in any pickup configuration!

Are you using the same old cables?

Yup, same Planet Waves Custom Pro cables (with the gold-tips).

Everything is the same except bass and amp.

Happened on my first gig with the setup, didn't happen with the second gig, happened again at rehearsal yesterday. Got 2 gigs coming up this weekend. Just don't want to have to hit the mute/tuner in between each song.

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced this, but my Metro RV5 seems to be very susceptible to cell phone interference. It makes those clicking noises that sound like morse code coming through the amp. Would a chrome cover over the neck pup help? I didn't think this would be a bass I'd have to get additional shielding done. It is a Metro, but for some reason I thought the Metros were shielded. (I haven't opened mine up to check... I'm almost afraid to look inside as I know nothing about electronics)

Of course the Metros are shielded. We also install an RF filter in our basses, but in a particular building with funky wiring, anything can happen. Is this only happening in one location or in many? If you are in a venue where this is happening, plug into the guitarist's amp and see if you still get it. That might shed light on of the bass or the amp is the primary suspect.

We first encountered this problem in the days of pagers. Then cellphones. We had a customer come in a couple of months ago complaining of a ticking sound coming through the amp and it was an electronic cigarette in his pocket!

You just have to trouble shoot it in a logical manner.

Thanks so much Roger. You've been such a pleasure to deal with!

I've had this happen in 2 different buildings at this point with 2 different amps. I'm sure that having these 2 gigs this weekend will shed some light on it all. Great idea to try plugging into the guitarist's amp to troubleshoot.

Roger,

Do you think the fact that NYCs have graphite rods in their necks changes the tone or impacts the neck's stability significantly compared to Metros that don't have the graphite rods?

I do not use graphite for stability. My pre-graphite necks are just as stable as my graphite ones. I use graphite to reduce dead spots and promote evenness along the fretboard.

Let it be noted that we have not experienced any issue with the above on our Metros either.

Allow me to testify. I have two 5/24s, one Metro, one NYC. No difference in stability, no dead spots on either. And this particular Metro is a songful beast!

Just got this :
