Club Sadowsky!!!

Any body here play this bass:

Sadowsky J4 Nordstrands - Will Lee

I haven't played it but I bet it would kick ***. Alder/Rosewood/Big Singles/8.1 pounds - what could there possibly be NOT to like?!

Concerning our P-PJ pickups......

On a five string we use Custom spec'd Nordstrand PJ Pickups..A matched set.

On a four string we use custom Spec'd Dimarzio PJ pickups..Also a matched set.

We do not use Fralins.

The "J" pickup on a PJ is a Hum-cancelling pickup...not Single coil.

Cool... the truth is known! Thanks!

And yeah, a single coil J pickup in a PJ would not be a good thing!

Hey anyone out there have a NYC Sadowsky VJ that is butterscotch w/maple board? Butterscotch body, b/w/b pickguard, maple board, chrome hardware would look classic IMO.

I'm also curious if butterscotch and butterscotch-blonde are one in the same as shades vari on even the same body wood? I could only find two examples on the website, one VJ4 that is butterscotch-blonde, and one Tele Pbass that is butterscotch. The Tele Pbass is the color tone I like best. The other seems to be a lighter shade. Both are on ash.

I love classic 59' burst but I have one already :)
Still love the orange trans too...;)

I wish you could see the trans orange in person. It really is something. There is a LOT of the ash grain coming through, which gives it more of a 'burnt orange' sort of look in person, versus the brighter orange in the pictures.

That being said, I have yet to see a Sadowsky color that I don't dig. All the trans colors look fantastic, and the trans thing is a cool way to 'fancy' them up a bit without going to the price, and quite frankly, the little bit of disconnect between a J looking bass with an unfinished Fender type headstock and fancy top woods (IMO there!).

So what is the tonal difference between the Nordstrand and the Dimarzio P/J pickups??

Your orange VJ is just awesome. I'm kinda torn between that and the classic butterscotch. I was thinking of vintage tint but the lust faded on that finish. A well done butterscotch has a timeless look to me just like 59' burst. I've got time to decide though.

I looooove that Trans Orange and am considering that for my next bass - 4 string - maple board - HC's.

Either that or Sonic Blue w/ matching headstock, Rosewood, SC's.

It's been a few months and I STILL can't decide? I'm hoping that either might pop up on the "in-stock" update and that might force my hand ;)

My plan is to have both eventually AND a PJ 5 :rollno:

:D

hmm...

wonder how a single coil would sound? wouldnt mind a little extra aggression w/ the smoother P pickup's hollow midrange.

then again, wonder what a big single back there would be like w/ the P-pickup!!!

What it would be, I believe is full of single coil hum, since I don't think the P would 'humbuck' the single coil J.

However, the Big Splits sound so close to the Big Single that you wouldn't hear the difference IMO and would have no hum issues with the mis-matched pickups.
