Club Sadowsky!!!

Anyone with a shoreline gold with matching headstock pic?
Sure. Oh wait, you meant a Sadowsky? My second favorite P Bass, especially through the SPB-2 preamp pedal, lurking in the background.

If anyone is extremely bored today and happens to be good at photoshop, I’d love to see what this would look like with a maple neck bound and blocked (abalone or the like) and a white pearloid pickguard with soapbars. 4 string which is likely impossible and not necessary for just the visual anyway.:)
No soapbars, but kinda like this?

Hey Club Sad,

Im working on a potential trade for this Sadowsky Tokyo and wanted to know everyone's opinions. I've been a Sadowsky fan since falling in love with Tal's playing (mainly due to THAT video of her soloing with Jeff Beck and then moving onto her solo stuff as she grew) so this is an exciting trade potential.

He isn't sure of the year, but it's a Sadowsky Tokyo with Aguilar preamp and pickups. I'd be trading an EBMM 5HH Special, and the values seem to be pretty equivocal from my research, but I could be wrong.

Anybody have any insight for me?

Thanks in advance!

Unless I’m not aware of early Sadowsky’s using an an Aguilar made preamp, a Sadowsky without a Sadowsky preamp is not a Sadowsky, at least to me. . Imo the “normal” preamp that you see and hear on all Sadowsky’s (and I would assume is what you love about Tal’s sound) is a big part of the sound and might be an unpleasant surprise if it’s something else.

I have a question regarding the body style options on the drop down menu on the Sadowsky order form: I have a MIJ Metroline J that is 21 fret, this is what I want for this build.

The drop down options are:
Full sized J which says 20 fret (not what I want). Options for 21 fret are NYC, so the question is-is an NYC the same body as the Metroline I have?
Thanks

I think the 4-21 is the typical undersized J body. The 4-20 models are full sized and sometimes called ultra vintage. Someone else may know more conclusively.
Correct on the 20 fret. And My take is by listing them as full size in the drop down, it implies that the other choices are not full sized bodies.
Edit: And having owned all of the other choices (at least for 4 string) I can say they are, in fact, the downsized bodies.

Came home last night and found a box on my doorstep. The MV5 body back from being refinished! It is now black with a clear pickguard. Hard to see in the pic, but when I bought this bass it was pretty beat up. Really fantastic sounding MV5 though! Before and after:

Really nice, little different from the norm with that pickguard. Didn’t look so bad before although I’m sure the beat up parts are hard to see in the pic. Enjoy!
