My last of the Japan metroline Will Lee is totally noise free on all settings and even with just one of the (single coil) pickups selected. Judging by these comments certainly makes me wonder whether the Warwick pre is different. It makes sense that they may be using another source.

I have a 2014 Japanese Metroline Will Lee and depending on conditions and my position, the single coils hum like crazy when solo’d. Both together are dead quiet. I quite honestly have never seen a Jazz Bass with SCs that does not do that, so consider yourself lucky.

The Metro Single Coils are NYC pickups.

The NYC Satin Series 5 string pickups as well as NYC basses over the last 10+ years have full strength magnets (single coil and hc) and should be a bit farther away from the strings.

So my German Will Lee 4 has USA pickups like your NYC ? thanks

I agree! Both my 4 string and 5 string Japanese Metro Will Lee's are dead quiet as above.

After taking off my pickups we discovered it wad Duncan made Sadowsky NYC pickups inside the German Metro Line WL 4

I am very stoked! I have owned a number of Warwick basses and know those people are VERY capable of producing top end products...
My Jazz Bass needs were already fully satisfied with a Fodera NYC Empire 5 dlx. So now there's a Sadowsky P++ coming in.

I took the photo from drbass via google, but ordered it 400 euro cheaper elsewhere. The price difference was just too large.

Here is a video of the hum and buzz I experienced on my Warwick Sadowsky 5 string PJ. Warwick sent a new preamp, but that made no difference to the hum/buzz. It did however fix the large gain difference between active and passive. They also sent a new scratchplate that had shielding paint on it at the control cavity. This fixed the hum when putting you fingers near the pots when not touching the strings....also fixed cel phone pickup. I had to route the rear pickup cable away from the preamp and shield the the rear pickup cavity to stop the buzz when not touching the strings. All seems good now, although I haven't had a real gig with it yet.

Weird. I had this with a Japanese Fender Marcus Miller signature a couple of years ago.
The weirdest part was any of my friends could play it and there would be no hum, only when I touched it.

We'll see how my Sadowsky turns out. It is supposed to arrive today.

I'm really liking mine now buzz/hum seems to he fixed. The neck feels just great
