I have nothing but good things to say about my WL-4.de. I'm going to add a bell cover and have been experimenting with one using double sided tape. Well, the only negative is th bag (the PortaBag Express). It's a little on the cheap side, IMHO. I ordered an Access Stage Five yesterday to replace it since finding a real PortaBag is nearly impossible.

I agree about the Portabag being cheap, it's nowhere near as good as the NYC bag. I use a mono vertigo

I have several Vertigos too. They're my usual go to, but I have to open it to make sure I'm taking the correct bass. Which reminds me that I need to get the keychains or velcro color coded wraps like I was going to do.

Stage 5 is THE best bag, IMO.
However, I do like the “improvements” Roger made for the Sadowsky bags. All the new Metro and ME bags I’ve seen do appear cheaper.

I never really heard of them before yesterday. I ordered the universal case which looked like it's the closest to a PortaBag. What are the major differences?

The Sadowsky bags have bigger, wide open pockets. The regular access St 5s are smaller with more compartments for little things.

Very happy with my Will Lee metro, so this question is out of curiosity and because I was just reading a thread on fret size. Does anyone know what size frets are standard on Sadowsky basses?

Nickel Fretwire - 6125 I believe.

My tech solved the hum issue i was getting with my Sadowsky Metro Ger. He shielded the pickups cavity and now the bass is much quieter. Shout out to Evan Gluck (He does amazing setups and repairs) @ https://www.newyorkguitarrepair.com

If you don't get an answer here, then contact Nordstrand, they LOVE to talk pickups. They may already have the answer, but if not, they can tell you how to provide the specs they need.

Below are the measurements of the Nordstrand Jazzbar 5. With my ancient metric measuring tools it looks like they might be about 1 mm wider than my Sadowsky soap bars, but you might want to try yourself. They are definitely very, very close.

If these pickups are the same ones that are in the Sadowsky Modern basses, I once swapped out my Sadowsky Modern soapbars with Nordstrand Fatstacks.

The Fatstacks used the Bartolini P2 sized casings and they fit perfectly. You should be able to get the Big Singles in the same size casings.

The only difference that stood out to me was the drill pattern. On the Nordstrands there are 2 on top and 1 on bottom, so you'd need to drill two holes.

It might be worth asking if they can do the casings with the same hole pattern so you don't need to drill anything.

Yes i believe they were making the incase gig bags.

In that case make sure about internal dimensions. At one point, incase had issues with inline headstock.
