Well, schnizzel. I see how to hook up this Warwick version; but, it just seems to be a MAJOR step backwards from the solderless version the shop used to sell. NOT user friendly. I may just keep it for a spare and hold out for a used solderless one to come along.

It is not complicated. Two pickup hots to the terminals on the blend pot. Pickup grounds and bridge ground to the back of the pot. That's it!!!

FWIW, I’m a lefty and my MIG Metroline has a lefty pre installed in it and I’m currently on the lookout for an OG righty plug-and-play Sadowsky preamp.

User friendliness aside, the electronics in these basses are simply not the same. P’ups included. Toward the beginning I thought they were closer than they actually are … it took a few gigs to drive home that they’re quite different.

The circuit board for the preamp is exactly the same. The pickups for the MetroLine are all my design and I listened to and approved them all. The 5 string J pickups are changing to the stacked design.

The Continental Voyager has a hard frame and a hard plate in the lid. It's almost like a case and opens as such. You need to open the zipper all the way around to open the lid and that won't work well if the bag is standing on it. I just tried it, and when I angle the bag back pretty far it somewhat works. On the Vertigo the zipper goes all around the neck on both sides and then the upper half of the lid folds forward so you can easily pull the bass out vertically.

One of the guitar players I have played with had several of these, but I never paid any attention to him removing them from the cases. I had no idea those were that rigid - that's great information to know. I looked at a double, but ultimately decided I wanted something with a bit more pocket storage (I've grown accustomed to having another pocket on the headstock end).

I also just picked up a Gator gig bag... it was an open box, but like new. Problem is, the shoulder strap location is too low it does not sit right... I guess why it was on sale! 70.00 so I can't complain, but I will!

I've noticed this on my Gator Pro-Go dual, too - I'll bump the top of doorways that I would have made it through unscathed otherwise with some of my other bags. I've kept the Gator around though because I really like the storage pockets, as I can keep everything in the bottom pocket very organized - the iPad/tablet pocket is fantastic.

I'm sure it'd be heavy, but I'd love to see a dual Portabag or Access Stage 5 bag come out.

I thought I wanted a double as I almost always bring 2 basses to gigs, but like for church it's usually just one and I don't want to move all my stuff from the double to the single all the time. Currently I have my Contego set as the main bag and then if I bring a 2nd bass I use another empty bag. It does get heavy with 2 in a bag. My Sadowsky doesn't really fit the Contego bag while my others do. Hence my search for a new bag or maybe 2 as my Contego is showing some wear and tear.

I dont think I would buy the portabag again. I had two, and the zipper teeth on both got damaged. I McGuyvered the first case to make it work, but ultimately sold it with a bass (identifying the issue). The second case I took to a professional upholsterer who works with furniture, car interiors, and has significant experience and understanding of heavy duty upholstery and zipper attachment. He was unable to repair reasonably, and I was told that due to the many layers and the methods of assembly, that it would have to be basically rebuilt, so I declined a full repair, and it sits in a closet now, unused. Too bad bc when it was working, it had excellent capability. But I cant justify spending the money on that case now. I still miss using it.

I have 2 Roscoe bags that would work. My Sadowsky fits in them just fine. They have a big pocket and a little one at the headstock which I like. They are just a little "bulky" or "loose" when compared to things like my Contego or say a Mono.

you mean those grey branded ones? if so, I had two singles and a double, just recently sent one of the singles off with a bass. a little bulky, but not bad at all. made by SKB, and IMHO a really good bag.

...Portabag (which is the Mercedes of bags, but it is big and heavy)...

i assume you're talking about the newer ones, which are a bit heavier than the older ones. i don't mind the extra weight honestly, but i do still prefer the older ones, which i have a couple... because they are lighter, and i do like the old "big" pocket design, too. just mho tho.

Those ones were "inspired by" the Undercover bags. If you ever feel like moving one, I've probably got space on my pile o' bags

That I don't know, I've only had one and it wasn't original to the bass. A killer bag, well made but a bit of overkill for my needs. That being said, when my NYC build shows up, I'll use the portabag with it

Yep, those are the ones. Maybe before I spend $500 on a couple bass bags I should reload my stuff into these Roscoe bags and try them for a while.

No Mono or Reunion Blues experience, but lots of time with Contego and old and new Sadowsky portabags. The newer Sadowsky bags seem a bit more streamlined, but the Contego is more maneuverable still...it's sturdy enough for local use, the side-pockets are useful, it hangs nicely over one shoulder. Pretty much what I use most often.

I replaced my old worn out Mono 80 dual with a pair of Reunion Blues Aeros and my Satin series came in a Gator case [ forgot to upgrade to the Sadowsky case ] but it is a good case. I like the Aero very much , basses fit nicely.

Love my Portabags best. It's where my Sadowskys have lived for over a decade, 'nuff said.

Others I have experience with:

• Protec Contego -- really nice for the price. Less rugged than the Portabag, a bit less pocket space (but still good)
• Reunion Blues Continental -- high quality, might be as rugged as the PB, but much less pocket space and IMO the "longneck" shape is awkward
• Mono M80 (non-Vertigo) -- seemed OK at first but wore out quickly; I'd never get another. IMO the less expensive Contego is superior across the board

- Portabag rules my collection
- Reunion Blues RBCB4 is a great case which I use with my non Sadowskys
- Mono Vertigo is just OK. It kinda lost it's shape after about a year and the piping has peeled in that year. I like that it's top-loading and I love the massive rubber boot at the bottom. I wish other companies would do something similar.

Speaking of Portabags has anyone bought the new ones thru Warwick? I found they aren't quite up to standard as the ones Roger sold. Not as solid (stiff) and bends in half. What's worse, the smaller outer pocket came unsewn a week after I got it. I don't recommend.
