I guess it shouldn't be a big surprise. I played jazz basses for a long time before I went to soap bar basses for the last 10 or so years.

Glad to see you are hanging onto it. I have the Oly White/Tort version and love it. Was the favorite until I got a 2015 MV5 Metro and now it's not getting as much love; but still awesome and not going anywhere any time soon.

So I decided to give my NYC Deluxe Satin Jazz 4-21 a rest this week from playing at church.

In favor of my German MetroLine Vintage PJ 5-21.

It took a little while but I was finally comfortable enough playing it to try it out. And it delivered! I was able to leverage all the way down to the low B in the set. The best comment I got was from our acoustic guitar/lead vocalist: "I don't know who this Sadowsky guy is, but he builds one sweet sounding and looking bass!"

I'm playing with this same AG/lead vocalist at church this week, and at rehearsal last night he asked me to switch to the PJ 5-21 for Sunday's service. The songs didn't call for me to play it this week (and I'm still more comfortable on the 4-21), but he remembered liking the sound enough last month to make the request.

I'm making a note to remember to play the PJ 5-21 with him from now on!

That's nice! I'm also thinking about adding a Sadowsky PJ5. Main reason I've been eyeballing the MIJ MetroExpress.

Yes PJ’s rule. I had a Sadowsky PJ Verdine White but foolishly sold it. Missed it a lot and ended up getting a LEH PJ. I can’t see myself without a PJ. I do prefer reversed P though given the option.

It’s actually because Ps rule. Ha
My PJ4 with the E Hip-Shot to D is probably my favorite bass experience.
(Always panned 100% P).

I rolled to the neck j pickup and it is a decent sound but not a true “p” of course. I could see where a PJ5 would be handy.

Hi folks, I just got a pre-Warwick preamp kit secondhand, but it didn't come with the battery clip. I don't need the clip itself, but I'd like to get the plug part that fits onto the circuit board. Does anyone know where I could get one/what the part is called?

I really see how a Super P with normal/reverse switching would be the cat’s meow for a PJ but can’t justify $6k+ for an NYC build to get one.

Yeah, my 3 basses (2 new, one used) averaged $2,300. That’s about my max these days. I’ve never paid over $3K. I just can’t justify not as a part time weekend musician. If I were a pro or I made my living from playing then maybe.

How are Warwick and NYC different? For instance, with the German WL there are no D-tuners or pickguard options but other than that they’re speced the same. They’re even chambered.

A rule like that can easily be outpaced by inflation in a few short years.

I thought much the same (10 years ago) but have since raised my limit over $3K for a new bass purchase. Even used.

A new Warwick MetroLine Will Lee is $3500 before shipping and customs duties.

IMHO, bass spending budget is not based on anything other than a player's preference/need vs their own personal ability to spend.

If a bass you used to be able to afford is now no longer affordable due to any reason, including inflation, it's still "no longer affordable".
