I have similar issues with the smoothness of my tuning machines on my 2022 modern single cut. I actually called the US Framus/Warwick support line back in late September to see if I could get a new set. The person I spoke to really downplayed my concerns on the tuners and made a point to say how they had virtually no complaints so it’d be extremely rare that I had sub par tuners. Now I’m seeing several complaints that’s reinforcing the issues I initially tried to inquire about. My luthier agreed on the tuning machines not feeling right. He used a small amount of white lithium grease and it made a very small improvement. They did offer to inspect the tuning machines that I would mail to them and then send back new ones if they were defective. I opted for lubing option they suggested first to see if it made an improvement. At that point afterwards I just wanted to enjoy the bass so I left it be. It’s an amazing bass other than that though.

I had the same issues with some of the hipshots on the PJ5 Hybrid I had briefly, also the pots worked fine but didn't felt as nice the ones on my Japanese Sadowskys, they were 'looser' for want of a better description. The bass was 8lbs and nicely balanced, and the fret work was excellent, though.

As Roger mentioned, replacements are available. In this example, I think the person adjusting it clearly used too much force, but also did not use the adjustment tool right.

There's holes all around the circumference of the spokewheel adjuster ring- this is obviously where the adjustment tool goes. In order to be most effective in providing even torque, the adjustment tool must go through the hole you see, as well as the hole on the opposite side of the ring. It's directly across from the visible hole. You can't go too far into the ring assembly with the tool - there's the danger of gouging the wood on the body behind the wheel.

This process should avoid the damage seen in the photos. The illustration below is a butt-end of the neck mock up showing what I mean.
