Club Sadowsky!!!

Until I got my Sadowsky I used Minotaur
straps (leather) which are well padded and comfortable. Unfortunately they have not enough grip since my Singlecut has a bit neckdive. I tried a Richter strap that solved this problem but now after a few weeks the hole for the strap buttons has increased so that it seems a bit too loose. As you already thought I got rid of the security locks and assembled simple Gotoh strap buttons. What strap do you use that has grip, is sturdy enough, comfortable to wear and 8 cm wide?
Looking forward to your suggestions.

You’re going to get a wide variety of answers to your question, but here’s what I use …

I own like 3 of these:

Guitar, Bass - MSS2-4-XL-BLK

They're wider than your 8 cm request at a hair over 11, but wider usually distributes weight better and allows for more grip.

They’re admittedly not the grippiest at first, but get grippier as they break in.

There are several other Levy’s options with suede backing that grip better, but I do like some give and suede always seems to stretch my shirts from being too grippy.

Another Levy’s strap I own that I absolutely adore is this one:

Guitar - PM31-BLK

It’s beautifully made, but a tad short - if you’re really tall and like your basses to hang a little lower, you’d need an extender for it.

Expensive but oh so nice for the shoulders! Got no problems with any widened holes. However, you can always use these rubber rings to remedy the issue. Thats the much cheaper alternative:

The oldschool version would be the rubber gasket from a Flensburger beer bottle :thumbsup:

Just picked this up on Reverb after they accepted my $550 offer.. I needed a good quality, but not spend a lot of cash, fretless for one of my cover band projects just to pull out for a couple songs. My current MIA FENDER P/j fretless is being used by my niece on her band tour. Hopefully this doesn’t have that kinda cheap made in China feel? I’ve seen the good reviews, some noise issues in the earlier models, but overall might be a steal even if I need to make a few modes. A big deal for me is having an unlined fretboard and P pup, anyways fingers crossed!

I have nylon straps by other manufacturers. In short: nylon is 'slippy', not 'grippy', so don't use it if you have any issues with neck dive.

Sadowsky straps I own with more grip: padded leather (suede on the underside), and cotton fabric.

Sad to see Sadowsky no longer offers their cotton fabric strap. I have one, and wish I had more!

Congratulations!

I have the 5 string version of this bass ( made in 2022) and I like it quite a bit. Plays like a Sadowsky! Ebony board is quite nice. I added the VTC. The only other change I am considering is the tuners. Overall a very nice bass, regardless of the low price tag.

Thanks for reply… Tuners look like the Hipshot lic type made for Sadowsky? Which as long as they are light and stay in tune I’m cool.. the VTC sounds like the only real change I might make, however I’m actually a passive guy, so I’m thinking of keeping it in passive mode anyways?

I received a message from Hans Peter Wilfer (CEO Warwick): the new MetroExpres 2023 will be availabe in 5 to 6 months. Some shops may have a pre-production or test version.

Today marks 11 years that I received my custom order Standard 4 for my 50th birthday! (do the math) Seen here with the man himself. This bass is still amazing in every way. Thanks again Roger @Sadowsky for the gift that keeps on giving! :smug:
