Club Sadowsky!!!

Speaking of tort guards, this one arrived yesterday, soooo a facelift for an old warrior. Here's the morph...

2 bazillion and 1

Hey Tom!

Love the morph! that's a smokin' bass that's even nicer with the tort

Have you pursued the solid color (Sonic Blue) bass that you had mentioned, about a year ago I think?

I have it all spec'd ready to go but have been waiting for the right one to come up on the "in-stock" list :hiding: I think I'd like it to be a Sonic Blue Vintage P/J 5, Precision Body, Matching Headstock, Braz Board, parchment pick gaurd and Chrome H/ware... should be really nice I think ;) and would partner these two beauties nicely

Andrew, you know I ALWAYS love it when you post pics of those instruments, and I'm sure they sound every bit as good as they look.

That P/J 5 that I picked up is spec'd almost identically to what you are looking for...and i've got to tell you i'm really liking it. (ald/BZRW). The bottom end on that thing is unreal. Big, full, deep, warm...did i say BIG, just as clear as a church bell with incredible sustain. (ah yes, life is not all 8th's and 16th's ;))

Great!

That's one of the things that's been stopping me going ahead with the PJ 5, the bottom end on the above ash / maple JJ 5 is like nothing I've ever heard (particularly through the DB750 / GS412) and I see no real reason to get something else? it's just that I love the Sadowsky instruments and that the Sonic Blue bass would be a slightly different flavour. I'm also waiting for our $$$$ to get a bit better against the USD :scowl:

Congrats on your three Tom, they're all really nice!

First pic with the new PG and new SC pickups.

Nice, how do the 4 string singles sound compared to the HC pups?
I love the HC pups in my Standard 4. I wouldnt think of swapping them out.
The HC 5s.....well, thats a different story. Still a great pickup but, I do like the singles better for my tone goals.

I swaped the HC for SC because my other Sadowskys had SC and I prefered the 'bite' of the SC. The HCs on this bass always sounded more scooped, the SC more "vintage"...

Surprisingly, changing the PU on this one produced "something in the middle". It doesn't bite as much as my ultra vintage (woods? weight?) yet doesn't sound as scooped as before.

I heard your Standard 4, don't change a thing on it!!!
