So far I'm finding myself not using the boost channels at all (too much noise when I plug in the foot switch. I don't like that at all). I'm using the A/B box to switch between channels 1 or 2, or my favorite, combining both channels (channel 1 clean and channel 2 dirty).

The A/B box allows me to switch between channels 1 or 2, or combine both (mono). When I switch over to the "stereo" toggle, I plug in a stereo cable into the "input" of the A/B box. Then I'm able to use my Rickenbackers RIC-O-Sound feature. Channel 1: neck pup (clean) Channel 2: bridge pup (dirty).
So far I'm really enjoying this thing. I must say, it was worth the wait

If any of you guys are still awake, I could use some help. I went ampless and cabless for the service tonight, and would like to do the same tomorrow. I ran my pedalboard into the MS and then used the "Record Out' line into a direct box with the filter toggle up. I noticed pretty quickly that it was very subby and not nearly as detailed. Because we were pressed for time, I set all the EQ at 12:00 and tried to clean up the mix from the EQ on my bass. I will try the same setup tomorrow with the filter toggle down. My question is, can I go direct from the amp out 1/4" port? I'm not sure that I am a fan of the filtering on the record out port. I really need the clarity of my mids and highs. I really like the ampless setup. We all use in-ears, and the cab and amp basically just make stage noise once the system is on. Besides, after 3 back surgeries, who wants to lug the gear around. Any tips would be appreciated.

I didn't know that about the EQ. I'm sure it was mentioned in this thread at some point and I missed it. Thanks!
No problem, I just looked it up the other day because I'm about to finishing building a cab and I plan on redialing my tone. Evidentially it has to do with the way that the fender or FMV tone stack inherently shapes the wave forms. So starting there should help. I love the simple 3 band EQ.

Hopefully mine will get done soon I love the new version two's I would have just been happy with just a volume control on the boost channel.
I hope so too. The EQ helps fine tune the dirt if you use the OD. My offer still stands if you want to borrow it.

yeah, he waited and it was well worth it, but he was out of town when it arrived so Mark had it shipped to me (since we're close to each other). it was built as a stereo preamp (two completely separate channels sharing one 2U enclosure), but Mark wanted both channels to be able to drive a single mono power amp, so I made him the ABY box (with dual Cornish buffers in it) and modded the Meatsmoke's outputs so it's switchable from mono to stereo on the back XLR. when it's switched to stereo it's exactly back to stock having two discrete channels. when switched to mono, both channels are combined to the third XLR.

Just checking in with a gig report. I was subbing for a bass player at a country gig Sunday. Lots of classic country dancing - couples gliding around the big hardwood floor.
I just plugged my *matching*
P Bass into the MS PRE pedal and ran it straight into the house bass player's rig. The band really dug the tone, and it was so easy for me to EQ... sounded, clean, huge and very old-school tube country (think Outlaw Waylon and Willie P bass sounds).
Both guitarists played Tele's and had some pretty impressive pedal boards themselves They LOVED the Meatsmoke pre...
