Most of the ST jokes had actual precedent; I saw Yes on the Tales tour, in an arena that was better suited for indoor rodeos. My crew and I had the cheap seats, with a view only of the sides and back, so we had a perfect shot of all the gear and staging/props; we saw Anderson, Howe and Squire get in, and out, of their Roger Dean designed pods(no incidents!).

I was not into those bands but I had friends who were, and I learned a lot of the lore from them. But it doesn't even have to be metal or prog bands - in a couple of shows U2 got stuck inside a giant lemon on their PopMart tour. Very Spinal Tap.
the guys in Tap have said sometimes bands think Tap got something from them, andrelate astory, but Tap was unaware of it, they got it from someone else.I was not into those bands but I had friends who were, and I learned a lot of the lore from them. I don't know who you were quoting, but it wasn't the Framus.''Bill Wyman is credited with inventing the fretless bass in 1961 when he removed the frets from his Framus to fix a buzz, but preferred the resulting sound instead.''

A discussion from the archives:
I just read on Bill Wyman's Wikipedia page that he's credited as being the inventor of the fretless electric bass. The page says that he defretted one of his early basses and this was the first fretless electric bass guitar.
Is this accurate? I don't have a bias either way as I'm not really a Rolling Stones guy or a fretless guy, its just that its a factoid I've never heard thrown around TB, which is surprising.
