I don't know whether to call this a P or a J, but seeing how it has a P body and P pickups, I'd call my Duff McKagan Jazz Bass Special the sickest looking P-Bass.

The Precision looks good in almost any color combination, but I think Jamerson's funk machine is the prettiest: sunburst, tort, rosewood.

Thanks! I love the black/tort combo too - tort on anything for that matter.

You are right on lots of tones. There is no preamp in it - does not really need one because the pickups offer so much tone shaping. Also has passive bass and treble cut controls (similar to a G&L).

I'm building one now with a Bartolini TC3, but its really not necessary - I think of it as being like afterburners on a jet.

This one is being built to donate but I'm already getting attached to it. Might have to build myself one too. Sorry about the sideways picture. Photobucket is frustrating. Cant figure out how to rotate.

That's a purty pickguard. I'd love something like that on mine. Strange wood panel doesn't really work for me.
