Covers that are pretty awesome.

Believe it or not, Pat Boone released a CD of covers in 1997 called "In a metal mood No more Mr. Nice Guy". He's wearing leather on the cover. When I first saw it I thought it was either a joke or it was part of a messy divorce settlement or something. Regardless, he does covers of all sorts of metal, it's a riot. Other than that, real covers would include the Doobie's version of "Take me in your arms", Rare Earth's "Get Ready" and Sergio Mendes' "Mas Que Nada". That last one reminds me that whenever a cover is a bigger hit than original, and so much so that people believe it to be the original, it calls for recognition. Santana "Black Magic Woman", Harry Nilsson "Can't Live", Stories "Brother Louie", and George Benson's "This Masquerade" come to mind, but my all time favorite is the Atlanta Rhythm Section's version of "Spooky".
