Love the song & the versions you posted---
but you left out the best version--which in my opinion is by the Yardbirds--although I did post it earlier in the thread--but here's one again...

I kind of see three main periods for the song--the original Tiny Bradshaw version.
the rocked up Johnny Burnette version
& the rocked up even more evrsion by the Yardbirds--
all other versions are variations of one of those
(For example, Aerosmith is mostly the Yardbirds version...)

I'm loving this at the moment :

To my mind (and apparently Trent Reznor's too) this is the definitive version of the song which both for the performance, the resonances with Cash's life, and knowing he had only a few months left to live is impossible to improve on. Cash's version unfailingly brings a tear to my eye.
